Doctor Who Fans Unite Against Cancer

While Whovians are gearing up for the big 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, one remarkable fan is celebrating by doing his best to do so by getting fans to donate to charity.

Craig Hurle, Whovian Extraordinaire and admin of one of the most popular (and by far the best) Facebook fan pages called The Doctor Who Hub, is reaching out to Whovians to donate to the Unite Against Cancer charity – an organization set up in 2012 to fund research into new cancer treatments.

Using the JustGiving.com site, which is like Kickstarter but for charitable causes, Hurle has set up Doctor Who Fans Unite Against Cancer, with a deadline of November 23, 2013, otherwise now forever known as the Day of the Doctor.

I remember looking through a friend’s DVDs one time and without prompting, he began defending his collection. The shelves filled with dollar bin titles that few beyond the cast, their families, or genre die hards had even heard of. He stopped short of apologizing for the quality of his collection saying he was always on the lookout for a “diamond in the rough,” a movie he could discover on his own beyond the chatter of consensus to proudly wear as a badge of honor when he struck gold. This of course means that for every discovery there were countless other piles of nameless titles that are never again going to be watched. The Secret of Crickley Hall belongs in his collection.

In present day London, an overly tired mother Eve Caleigh (Suranne Jones) reluctantly stops at a playground on the way home from daycare with her son Cam, with whom she has a special relationship (they can communicate without speaking to one another). After closing her eyes for a moment while he plays she wakes up to an empty playground. The frantic search by parents and police are equally unyielding. Cam is nowhere to be found and she can no longer hear him. Nearly a year later, thinking the change in scenery will be good for his wife and daughters Loren (Maisie Williams) and Cally (Pixie Davies), and to distract Eve from the upcoming anniversary of Cam’s disappearance, Gabe (Tom Ellis) suggests the family relocates to northern England for a few months where he has landed a temporary job contract. So they set off, having rented out the overly large Crickley Hall as their home while they are away from London.

Patrick Troughton exiting the TARDIS from Classic Doctor Who somewhere between 1966 and 1969.

The BBC today announced that 9 episodes from Patrick Troughton-era of classic Doctor Who (1966-69) were found earlier this year at a Nigerian television station and will be available for immediate purchase via Apple iTunes.

The episodes come from two multi-part serials for which only one episode each was known to exist: “The Enemy Of The World” and “The Web Of Fear.” As a result of this discovery, “The Enemy Of The World” serial can now be watched whole in the UK for the first time since it was originally broadcast, and for the first time ever in the United States. Episode 3 of “The Web Of Fear” serial is still missing even after this discovery, but a reconstruction from stills and program audio is included to complete the story. All 11 episodes from the two serials exist on film and were digitally restored prior for this release.

BBC Teen Exorcists

Apparently, this exists: Teen Exorcists, a BBC reality TV series about three American teenage girls who are… you guessed it … Exorcists.

Watch a clip here below from the show, where the wholesome young girls explain that the spells in the Harry Potter universe are actually real and dangerous, and that although Harry uses his magic for good, ALL magic is bad because, well, it comes from Satan.

Magic ÏŸ Satan.

I think I just found my favorite new TV show.
