Release Date: February 9, 2010 Welcome back to Rapture, the Objectivist dystopia where one of the best stories in video game history takes place. Every since Bioshock changed the way people viewed FPS games, fans have anxiously awaited the sequel. The wait is over, and patience has paid off for those who wanted more. Bioshock 2 takes place 8 years after the events of the first game. Industrialist Andrew Ryan, the founder of Rapture, is dead, as is his arch-nemesis Frank Fontaine, whose scheming brings about a civil war that caused the city’s infrastructure to collapse. In the time since the war ended, the remaining citizens have continued their decent into complete madness, made worse by the complete isolation and continued abuse of the gene-altering drug known as ADAM. ADAM grants users special abilities, but can easily be abused, resulting in a loss of sanity. The story begins two years prior to the events of the first game, with the player as a “Big Daddy” one of the super-strong brainwashed warriors decked out in a scuba suit/battle armor. As a mindless soldier, the player only watches as they slowly lurch through Rapture guarding a “Little Sister,” a genetically modified and brainwashed child tasked with extracting ADAM from dead bodies throughout the city. While defending the girl from “splicers,” ADAM addicts whose minds have been ravaged by prolonged abuse, you are interrupted by Dr. Sophia Lamb, a psychiatrist causing a stir within Rapture. It turns out your “little sister” is Eleanor Lamb, Sophia’s daughter. Wanting her daughter back, Dr. Lamb uses mind control to force you to kill you yourself.

Bioshock 2
Platform: Xbox 360
Developer: 2K Games
Publisher: 2K Games
Release Date: February 9, 2010
The opening of 2007’s Bioshock is one of the best — if not THE best — introductions to a video game we’ve ever seen. Crashing into the ocean, swimming to a mysterious nearby lighthouse, progressing cautiously as you put yourself into the game and wonder where you are. And then, to have your mini-adventure into the city of Rapture viciously halted by the cruel realization that you are not in a friendly place…it was all just so amazing and unforgettable, and there was still twenty great hours of gameplay to come! The first game was so good that many fans felt that a Bioshock 2 was completely unnecessary, but we were told that one was on the way nevertheless. For me personally, this was fantastic news, and I’ve been excited and anxiously awaiting its arrival. See, when it comes to video games, they’re a platform of entertainment that is perfect for sequels. Yes, a second, third, or fourth game may not be as good as that original, but that doesn’t matter here; games all have to be their own creature. Whether you love or hate Bioshock 2, the original will still always be there to play; but if you love it, then that’s all the more time you get to hang out in that crazy world of Rapture. For me personally, I loved my second visit to the city hidden under the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, and I hope that I get to go there many more times in the future. Click over for more and to see a trailer. Be careful not to drown.

| 9-Minute ‘BioShock 2’ Walkthrough Video |
 |

The first BioShock 2 trailer finally showed us some gameplay footage (Read: ‘BioShock 2’ Gameplay Footage) and it was a wonderful treat — now comes a 9-minute long video walkthrough from IGN of what’s likely to be the game’s opening sequence and/or demo. The walkthrough is with BioShock 2 Creative Designer Jordan Thomas, who will offer a little insight into what to expect in the game while showing you in the game itself. You will notice many parts that were featured in the trailer above, but with a much more in-depth look at these parts. Many people seem to be against this game coming out, but we have to keep in mind that is a game, not a movie. Game’s are built to have sequels if the original finds success, and their sequels tend to be a lot more well-done than the movie follow-ups that we’re so used to. Even if the first game is the best of the best and can not possibly surpass the first, why not travel back to our haunting and beloved Rapture for more adventures? This is why I’m so excited to see what they come up with. Click over to watch all nine minutes of walkthrough glory.
