| Brian Cox Is The Latest Name To Join ‘Rise Of The Apes’
Well gosh darn it — you want to think a movie is going to be terrible when you hear that said movie will be a Planet of the Apes prequel and that it will use CGI effects instead of the better-known costume and prosthetic effects. But despite all of the alarms going off in our heads about this project, every new casting announcement that comes along seems to add another level of intrigue. It’s now being reported by The Wrap that the great Brian Cox will be joining the cast of Rise of the Apes, the 20th Century Fox prequel that will take place long before the events seen in Planet of the Apes. Cox will be playing a role he can play to absolute perfection: the villain. He would be playing the owner of a multitude of primates used for testing in a lab that he tends to treat very poorly. This spells bad things for Mr. Cox.

| Broken Lizard Says ‘Super Troopers 2’ Is Moving Forward & Brian Cox Will Be Back! |
 |

Broken Lizard became an instant legend amongst the 18-29 age range when their brilliant 2002 indie comedy Super Troopers was unleashed in 2001. Since then there have been many whispers of a possible sequel, but Broken Lizard moved on to movies like Club Dread and Beerfest — both of which continued their wacky comedy style, but never quite reached the Super Troopers plateau. It is safe to say that the team could never make a sequel and everyone would be okay with that, but you, you, and I all know we would take it in an instant! While speaking to Movie Cultists about their brand new movie The Slammin’ Salmon, the gang was wooed into spilling some details on the possible Troopers sequel. To their surprise and to our very great joy, they shared that the movie was much further along than we were currently aware of! They confirmed that not only do they have multiple drafts of the script completed, but that they already have money in place and some cast ready and willing to return.

| Watch Now: New Trailer For Mike Dougherty’s ‘Trick ‘R Treat’ |
 |

Mike Dougherty‘s (writer of X2, Superman Returns) Trick ‘r Treat has been around for a few years now. It was originally slated for release in 2007, it had a good buzz about it, and of the few things there were to see from it, it looked really fun. Sadly, for some reason, something wasn’t working in the mechanics of the project, and it has pretty much been delayed and delayed again since then. The movie never really recovered from this severe mishandling, and instead of being released wide in theaters, it will simply just be put out on DVD on October 6, 2009. Below, you’ll find a brand new HD trailer for the movie. If you haven’t seen a trailer yet, it’s a must watch for fanatics of the Halloween season and of horror movies alike. While this is semi-good for those who have been waiting for ages to see the movie, it’s also very unfortunate for those involved. We live in a world where really great horror movies are an endangered species, and most horror releases are watered down and genetically modified to adhere to a younger audience that doesn’t even know how to appreciate good horror. Many of the best names and sites who really know their horror rave about Trick ‘r Treat, and as you’ll see, put it among some good company. It’s a movie that fans of the genre just can’t help but be excited to see — I know I’m twitching to finally check it out. Click over to the other side to check out the trailer for Mike Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat and read the official synopsis.
