Artist Maxim Dalton has created a new illustration called “Guitar Lessons” which features 35 rock guitar greats.

Dalton plans to offer up posters for this, and that there will be 50 hand-signed and numbered giclée prints at 19 x 25 inches. The cost will be around $40, plus $11 shipping for the U.S. and Europe. William Shatner is working on another music project, and this time it’s all about metal. Following a “space” theme, and titled Seeking Major Tom, Shatner is joining forces with some major hard rock icons for the new project, which is set to be released later this year. Essentially, the release is a covers album, but with covers brought together to tell the story of a concept album.

So far, Shatner has collaborated with Brian May (Queen), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society), Peter Frampton, Ian Paice (Deep Purple), and Steve Howe (Yes). Seeking Major Tom is said to be a collection of 18 “rock anthems” reinterpreted to tell the story that Shatner is putting forward on the album.

Brian May, the 59-year-old guitarist of the legendary rock group Queen, has just completed his PhD in astrophysics. His thesis was on interplanetary dust clouds.

May left school over 30 years ago to contribute to the world’s pool of quality music. After recently co-authoring a children’s science book with astronomer Sir Patrick Moore — Bang! The Complete History of the Universe — his interest was again sparked. He decided to go back to school and finish up what he started. He dug up his notes from 33 years ago, which he found in his loft, and picked up where he left off.
