‘Valerian and The City Of A Thousand Planet’ Trailer: Luc Besson’s Space Opera Takes Flight

One thing is for sure, Luc Besson really likes to think outside the box. That is pretty clear in what we have been seeing in the marketing campaign for his new film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. A new trailer dropped this morning, giving us another look at the space opera The Professional director has created. Some even call the film the spiritual successor to The Fifth Element. Judging by the looks of things, that is very true.
Check out the trailer below.

David Ayer Admits He Should Have Done ‘Suicide Squad’ Differently

Suicide Squad may not be the most popular film amongst critics and some fans, but it was one of the top-grossing films of last year. Warner Bros. third entry of the DC Extended Universe was polarizing in more ways than one. The loyal fanbase supported the film even though critics eviscerated it for having too many plotholes and a lack of character motivation. But if there is one thing that Suicide Squad suffered from the most, it’s the fact that the marketing campaign failed to deliver its promise on giving us the Joker (Jared Leto). Sure the Clown Price of Crime was in the film, but trailers and TV spots had assured us he would be a vital plot point. Instead, he was an unnecessary factor. Even Leto voiced his displeasure saying that he shot enough footage for a Joker movie. The extended edition supports that fact.

Summer movie season is of course filled with blockbuster tentpoles, but there are a few other films to look forward to, especially if you are looking for an escape. But if you don’t want to see those superhero films, then Luc Besson‘s (Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element) Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets might be just your thing.
Based on the french comic written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières, the film stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, as they travel through the outskirts of space for an adventure unlike any other. ‘Suicide Squad’ Extended Edition Blu-ray Trailer Reminds Us About A Forgotten Joker

Aside from the narrative and pacing flaws of Suicide Squad, one thing the film mishandled was the way we saw the Joker (Jared Leto). As much as the marketing campaign hyped the character, we saw very little of the Clown Prince Of Crime. In fact, Leto, who himself was unhappy that there was so very little of him, said he shot enough footage to make his own movie.
Now, a new trailer to help promote the release of the Suicide Squad Extended Edition Blu-ray shows us how much of that Joker footage we were promised, plus a few other scenes that were in the original trailers but gone from the final cut.
Check it out below.

Suicide Squad should have been a lot better than this. Much better. Trailers sold us the idea that the film was about bad versus evil, with the bad guys being played by an all-star cast. Then the marketing threw in some awesome music, and the anticipation for DC’s version of the Dirty Dozen only grew. Sure enough, we all thought that this was the one film that the DCEU needed to break the negative streak that it has been on. It has all the right pieces laid out before them to be a great movie. However, maybe we should reserve that hope for another DCEU film because although Suicide Squad isn’t the worst comic book movie ever, it sure as hell one of the most disappointing ones.

Patty Jenkins and Cara Delevingne Respond To Negative ‘Suicide Squad’ Reviews
|
 |

By now you may have heard about the bad reviews surrounding Suicide Squad, and we will, of course, confirm that for ourselves (or at least myself) if it is truly as bad as critics make it out to be. But looking at the behind-the-scenes drama that has gone on (including the fact that there was two different cuts, one of which was made by a trailer company), the film looks to be continuing the DCEU’s slide down being a terrible shared universe franchise. Whether or not the film can save DCEU is up to the general audience. It is tracking for a $140 million opening, so that is something to look forward to but sources say it would have to gross at least $750-$800 million to break even.
While these negative reviews aren’t doing the film or studio any favors, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and members of the Suicide Squad team such as stars Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie and director David Ayer are responding to these criticisms and defending the film. But are they merely just campaigning for the film or do they genuinely have good things to say about the film. You decide for yourself below.
