For a huge selection of high quality MP3 albums at low prices there’s no better place to shop online than at Amazon. Since individual MP3’s tend to sell for 99 cents at least you’re saving yourself a few bucks as well. Among the sweet deals Amazon is offering in November you’ll find titles from artists such as Lauren Hill, Bob Dylan, the Black Keys, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, John Coltrane, Kings of Leon, and Norah Jones.

There’s not a single dud in this bunch, but there’s one particular selection that has caught my attention so I’ve decided to write about it in greater detail: Tron: Legacy – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

A movie adaptation of the mega–hit BioWare video game franchise, Mass Effect, is still in the very early stages of development, but already basic details are being shared that are pretty interesting and potentially unsettling.

Last we had heard, the project would be making an appearance at this past San Diego Comic–Con with BioWare’s Casey Hudson and screenwriter Mark Protosevich, but because it was so early, not much was shared. Not that it appeared, anyway. As it turns out, Legendary Pictures, the studio behind the planned movie, actually answered a few questions that fans were asking via the Twitter on their website. And a couple of their answers could have fans unsure of what’s to come.

The MP3 album deal of the day over at Amazon today is the Tron: Legacy Soundtrack for only $3.99.

The soundtrack to the upcoming film Tron Legacy, which was released in stores today, is also available on CD for only $11.88.

The MP3 album comes with 23 songs by electronic music artists Daft Punk, along with the digital download of the CD booklet. This version sold by Amazon also has an exclusive track on it, “Sea of Simulation.”

The Internet public radio station 89.9 KCRW has posted an interview on their website from the show Morning Becomes Eclectic in which host Jason Bentley talked with Joseph Kosinski, the director of the upcoming Tron: Legacy, about his collaboration with the French dance music duo Daft Punk and their work on the Tron Legacy Soundtrack.

Bentley, who has previously served as the music supervisor for the Matrix trilogy, played a big hand in getting the boys in Daft Punk to score the big-budget sequel. In the interview Kosinski and Bentley talk in great detail about the director’s musical influences, how they figured into his vision for the Tron: Legacy score, and his experiences working with Daft Punk.

Kosinski also spoke about having the final mix of the score done at Skywalker Ranch, where the mix engineers described it as “the loudest film they had ever mixed music for.”

Tron: Legacy may be the first exception to the slew of recent big budget films released in 3D to yield a larger profit margin for studios.

The Disney feature was filmed using a newer generation of the Fusion Camera System developed by James Cameron for Avatar — meaning the 3D elements were done during the filming and not in post-production like Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, and several others.

“The look of Tron is unique. That’s one of the strongest things about it,” said producer and director of the original Tron Steven Lisberger during a press conference at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con.
