| ‘Suicide Squad’ Fallout: Jared Leto On Joker Cuts and Wanting R-Rating
Normally, a film breaking a summer box office record would be a cause for celebration. Suicide Squad earned a most impressive $135 million, proving that some films are indeed critic proof (check out my review). It really didn’t need the cast, crew, or even Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins to come to its defense. And yet, even with those massive record-breaking numbers, it seems that audiences began to catch on that there are still many problems the DCEU braintrust needs to address. Amid the reports of heavy studio interference, Suicide Squad star Jared Leto has come out to talk about how much Joker footage was left on the cutting room floor. According to him, there was enough to make a whole movie. More on this story below.

| ‘Suicide Squad’ Behind-The-Scenes Drama, Alternate Cuts, and Rushed Scripts
Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Suicide Squad is tracking for a $140 million opening this weekend, despite advanced reviews that pan the newest DCEU film for having a confusing plot, a weak villain, and sloppy editing. It shouldn’t be a surprise that there is drama surrounding a DCEU film, considering that reshoots and other issues cropped up for WB’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice as well. Slowly we are beginning to see just how discombobulated everything is over at DCEU. Suicide Squad director David Ayer has come out to defend the product he will be giving us this weekend and has justified those studio-ordered reshoots. But now a new report is giving us a better sense of happened on set and the behind-the-scenes issues. More on the story below.

| ‘Suicide Squad’ Early Reviews Are In, and They Aren’t Kind; Director David Ayer Responds
This last weekend, a select group of journalists were invited to see Suicide Squad. The film from David Ayer was seen as the DCEU’s shining hope that shared universe isn’t as dismal or depressing as Man of Steel or Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A lot of the marketing emphasized how much fun the film would be by combining the team’s camaraderie and use of classic songs like “Ballroom Blitz.” In fact, some hailed it as the DCEU’s version of Guardians of the Galaxy. Now the reviews are out, and they aren’t speaking highly of Suicide Squad. Ayer has also given out a swift response to these negative reviews. Check out excerpts from the critics who saw the film and Ayer’s response to those criticisms below.

The studio unveiled a new fast-paced trailer for the film during Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards 2016. You can watch it here below.
