| SDCC 2013: ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Panel
Rise of the Planet of the Apes was quite the success for Twentieth Century Fox, and its ending set the foundation for a new Apes franchise. At Saturday’s San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H panel, Fox unveiled the first look at the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. On the panel were director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), who takes the helm for this sequel from Rupert Wyatt, stars Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, who joined Andy Serkis reprising the role of Caesar. Entertainment Weekly’s Geoff Boucher moderated.

| First Look: Matt Reeves’ ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Has Apes On Horseback!
Pictured above is the new logo for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film, directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield), will document the further development of Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his tribe of genetically-evolved apes. Pictured below is our first look at Reeves’ film and it features apes riding horses, just like in Charlton Heston’s original 1968 classic, Planet of the Apes. The photo, which Reeves tweeted on Friday, shows a meeting between the human resistance, led here by Zero Dark Thirty and The Great Gatsby star Jason Clarke, and the apes, led by Andy Serkis in a mo-cap suit on horseback.

| Judy Greer Joins ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ As Female Ape Lead
Judy Greer is set to reunite with her 13 Going On 30 co-star Andy Serkis as the new female lead in Matt Reeve‘s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. But it’s not the type of female lead you may be thinking. While Keri Russell has landed the female human lead role, Greer will play the female ape lead. Vulture reports that in addition to providing the voice for the Cornelia, she will also do the motion capture performances. Greer isn’t known for her motion capture work, but she has plenty of experience in the voice over department, her most notable work can be seen on the hit FX animated comedy Archer, which has just been extended for a fifth season. According to the report it was Serkis who convinced Greer auction for the part.
