
Back in September, there was a report that Christopher Nolan would be releasing another film in the middle of the summer blockbuster season. Most recently, Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson talked about the importance of 70mm film, and Tarantino credited Nolan for creating a new interest in the format. During that conversation, Tarantino then said that Nolan’s next project would be using 70mm. All of this happening right after The Weinstein Company had helped retrofit 100 theaters to fit the 70mm presentation that Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight was shot in.
It only makes sense. Filmmakers like Tarantino, Anderson, Nolan, and J.J. Abrams have put an emphasis on using stock film to shoot their movies as opposed to using digital. And using the wider screen format creates a more immersive experience. Nolan shot The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Intersteller in IMAX. But what could Nolan’s next IMAX film be? Well, a new report says that it will center on World War II’s Operation Dynamo, which helped see the evacuation of Allied Troops.
