Ghostbusters

No matter how hard we try, we can’t get away from any news about Ghostbusters 3. A couple of weeks back Ghostbusters star we reported that Dan Aykroyd was saying that they were bringing in a new writer for the film. Now we didn’t know if this was lip service to an always nagging question or if it was true. And if it was true, would they start with a fresh story or would they use the script written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.

Now we can confirm a couple of things. First, yes, they are bringing in a new writer. Men In Black III and Tropic Thunder scribe Etan Cohen (not to be confused with Ethan Coen) has been brought in to do a couple of rewrites on the script that Eisenberg and Stupnitsky wrote back in 2008.

Oz (HBO TV series)

It’s not uncommon for large groups of people confined to depressing institutions where their every move is monitored and their freedoms are limited to divide up into splinter factions where each group’s solitary unifying factor is either their race, gender, nationality, heritage, lifestyle choice, or their desire to survive to see another sunset, and I’m not just talking about high school.

One of the basic rules of survival when you end up spending an extended amount of time behind bars is to join a gang, something that the brilliant television series Oz taught me.

Check out this infographic here below called A Look At The Gangs In Oz which breaks down every gang on Oz, listing the leaders, along with the criminal statistics of the gang members.

The Crow blu-ray

The movie’s star may not have lived to see what has been hailed as his greatest film on the widest of screens, but that didn’t stop The Crow, the controversial 1994 feature adaptation of the underground comic book miniseries by James O’Barr, from becoming a box office hit and spawning a franchise that includes three sequels, a short-lived television series, and a forthcoming remake. Now the original film that helped establish Miramax Films’ genre movie arm Dimension Films as a major force in the industry that would give rise to the Scream and Scary Movie series several years later is coming to Blu-ray. You can check out the trailer and a list of special features below this article.

Ghostbusters 3

We’ve been hearing things like this for a while now, so it is a little difficult to embrace this quote with open arms, but nonetheless: Ghostbusters writer and original star Harold Ramis sat down and had a little chat with Heeb, where he discuss everything from Animal House to Groundhog Day to the status of a one Ghostbusters 3.

We’ve heard rumors of a new younger and prettier cast replacing the originals. We’ve heard Ramis and Dan Aykroyd make multiple claims that the movie would be coming soon and that almost the entire cast would be back, including Ramis, Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson (Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and Rick Moranis are unknowns). And now comes word from Ramis that the film will in fact be shooting in he Summer of 2010 and will be released sometime in 2011.

We’ve all been jumping for joy since it was announced last week that Sony/Columbia was moving forward with a third Ghostbusters film that would reunite the original cast of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson.

But there’s also been talk that Ghostbusters 3 would really center on the next generation of ghostbusters, possibly even played by some of the young actors who regularly appear in the Judd Apatow films.

So, if the new film — to be penned by Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky — will star a new, younger cast, what role will the original four ghostbusters play?

Ghostbusters star Harold Ramis — whose upcoming comedy Year One was scripted by Eisenberg and Stupnitsky, and produced by Apatow — revealed in an email to the Chicago Tribune’s Pop Machine that the idea is to have the original ghostbusters be mentors to their successors.
