| Watch Now: Teaser For Jason Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel
Yesterday came the surprise announcement that Jason Reitman, the Oscar nominated director behind Juno and Up in the Air and the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, will be directing a sequel to those beloved original flicks. The long-awaited Ghostbusters 3…at least until they announce an official title. Even more surprising was that Jason had been developing the sequel in secret, co-writing the screenplay with Monster House director Gil Kenan, and that it would actually begin filming in just a few months. | Sequel To Original ‘Ghostbusters’ To Be Directed By Jason Reitman
Another new Ghostbusters movie is on the way. But unlike the 2016 reboot starring Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kristen Wiig, which told its own story and was not connected to the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel, this latest entry in the franchise will be a sequel set in the same universe as the originals which continues that story. So, basically the Ghostbusters 3 fans have wanted for so many years. It’s also going to be directed by someone with a strong connection to the series, Jason Reitman, whose father Ivan Reitman directed the first two films.

| Ivan Reitman Says More ‘Ghostbusters’ Films On The Way |
|
Before studios release a big budget tentpole movie, they announce that there are going to be sequels or even spinoffs. Sometimes that even happens long before the actual announcement happens, when a studio says they will be launching a shared-universe franchise. To some extent, it can work. But when a film like Ghostbusters fails to meet studio’s expectations, it can question whether or not it is even worth it to move forward with such a massive project. Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters, starring Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon wasn’t the kind of film that Sony was expecting, with the misogynistic threats and trolling that plagued the film throughout the entire marketing campaign. The film’s tepid $244 million box office draw may not be enough to give the studio confidence to green light a sequel. Despite that, Ivan Reitman believes that he has big plans for the Ghostbusters franchise. Check out what he had to say below.

| Fathom Events: The 20th Anniversary Of ‘Space Jam’
Twenty years ago, the world beheld the greatest onscreen duo of all time. Not Bogey & Bacall, Abbot & Costello, or even Batman & Robin. No, I’m talking about Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny. Sunday evening, I took my son to the Fathom Events screening of the 20th Anniversary of Space Jam. The film debuted twenty years ago this week when I was a spry 14 years old. My then 4-year old sister LOVED this movie and nearly wore out the VHS tape we had… yes, we owned the VHS.
