Bethesda won last month’s E3 game convention, according to most, holding their own showcase for the first time and unveiling games like the massively anticipated Fallout 4 and the new DOOM, among others.
One of the surprises that Bethesda delivered to fans during the showcase was that, in addition to Fallout 4, they also created their very own mobile game set in the same universe titled Fallout Shelter. On top of that, it was revealed that the game was actually already completed and would be available for download that very same night for free. Some Bethesda fans weren’t fond of the announcement, as mobile gaming has an overall bad reputation for the pay-to-win structure or overwhelming amount of ads found in many titles, but the developer assured fans that the game would have no ads and only optional purchases for items that could be earned in-game.
And apparently that’s all you need. According to mobile gaming data, Fallout Shelter made an astonishing $5.1 million in its first two weeks available to download.
