| SDCC 09: MacFarlane Shows Off ‘Family Guy’ Spin-Off ‘The Cleveland Show’ |

On Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, fans of Seth MacFarlane‘s Family Guy were shown footage of the show’s first spin-off, titled The Cleveland Show. The show follows Peter Griffin’s friend Cleveland Brown, as he and his son Cleveland Jr. move back to their home town. Once back, Cleveland rekindles his relationship with his high school sweetheart, who has two kids of her own.
The show will premiere on September 27th at 8:30pm EST. Judging from the footage shown, I’m still not sold on the series. I’m a pretty big fan of Family Guy, but I was surprised to see that they would be using Cleveland as a character on his own. The show had decent jokes at times, but on the whole it left me pretty cold. Who knows, maybe the good jokes were left out of the previews shown, and it could just be that the creators haven’t found the right tone for the show yet, but Fox had better hope viewers enjoy it more than I did, since they have already picked up the show for a second season, before even one episode has aired. So far, 22 episodes have already been made, and we’ll have to see if they all get shown on the air, or if they just have a lot of episodes to include on the eventual DVD.

| Reminder: Special ‘Star Trek’ Episode Of ‘Family Guy’ TONIGHT! |

In case you missed it not too long ago, it was announced that Family Guy was able to grab all of the actors from Star Trek: The Next Generation to voice themselves in a special episode of the show. (Read: ‘Family Guy’ To Reunite ‘Star Trek’ Cast) In the episode, the Griffin family visit a local Star Trek convention where the cast of Next Generation hold a Q&A panel. Unfortunately, little Stewie doesn’t get the chance to ask any of his questions, which obviously infuriates him. He then proceeds to build his own personal transporter, and brings the entire cast to his bedroom to hang out with him and have some fun around town for the day. Voices will include: Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes. Click over to the other side to check out a special preview video of the show from Hulu, and tune in tonight at 9PM EST on Fox to watch the episode!

| ‘Family Guy’ To Reunite ‘Star Trek’ Cast |

Family Guy has always been very much fanboy-driven, which reached new heights when the show was giving the blessing of George Lucas himself to spoof Star Wars. Following the very funny spoof, called Blue Harvest, it is expected that both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi will also be coming, starting next season with the Empire parody. Now comes word that their fanboy love affair won’t be stopping there. The popular animated Fox series will also be branching out into the world of Star Trek with an episode called “Not All Dogs Go To Heaven,” set to air on March 29. The difference here is that the episode will be a Family Guy episode with the integration of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation into that particular episodes storyline, which follows the Griffin family to Quahog’s annual Star Trek convention. It also helps that Patrick Stewart has voiced the show before and he’s an actual cast member of show creator Seth MacFarlane‘s other show, American Dad. Click over for a full episode description, expected names involved, and even a little taste of what this might be like via video clip of a previous Family Guy episode.

In honor of this “most important election in American history” taking place this Tuesday, November 4th between Barack Obama and John McCain, we at Geeks of Doom decided to compile a little list of some of the completely fictional presidents that have shown up in movies or on TV over the years who you would likely vote for over our current options. Some are completely different than anything we’ve ever seen before in a president, while some share familiar similarities; some come from dramas, some from science fiction, and some from completely ridiculous satire. But one thing’s for sure, they’d all make worthy candidates in one way or another.
No matter which candidate you’re hoping wins this Tuesday, or who you love or hate, we all just hope things don’t go to hell and good things come from whoever wins But until that time comes, please read on and enjoy 11 Fictional Presidents You’d Likely Vote For Over Obama & McCain!
