| ‘Eagle Eye’ Director D.J. Caruso In Talks For ‘G.I. Joe 3’Eagle Eye director D.J. Caruso is in talks to direct G.I. Joe 3, according to THR. Caruso would take the helm from Jon M. Chu, who directed the previous Joe film, 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and had been expected to return for this third installment, but he eventually moved on to go work on a live-action Jem and the Holograms movie. Over a year after Paramount greenlit a third Joe film in early 2013, it was revealed that the story, from a script by Jonathan Lemkin, would center more on Dwayne Johnson‘s character, Roadblock. Caruso and Johnson will reportedly need to meet privately before the deal is sealed. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is back producing, along with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner.

| ‘Transformers 5,’ ‘ Star Trek 3,’ ‘G.I. Joe 3’ & More Scheduled For 2016
People either love or hate the Transformers film franchise. On one hand, Michael Bay has helped bring the war between the Autobots and Decepticons to life; and on the other, we got to hear many variations of Shia LeBeouf saying “No, no, no.” But the popularity of the source material is one of Paramount’s cash cows, and now they will be extending it as they have announced that Transformers 5 will be hitting theaters in 2016. Paramount made the sequel announcement recently at a film conference in Europe. Other titles announced for 2016 include: Star Trek 3, G.I. Joe 3, Beverly Hills Cop 4, Hansel and Gretel 2, and Paranormal Activity 5. Hit the jump for more info.

| ‘G.I. Joe 3’ Will Be Penned By ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Writer Evan DaughteryBriefly: Since being confirmed to return to direct another installment of the G.I. Joe movie franchise, Jon M. Chu has been hard at work finding a writer to come up with a script for the film. That search has ended with Chu choosing Snow White and the Huntsman writer Evan Daughtery. Daughtery may not be a household name, but he is climbing up the ranks. Aside from writing Huntsman, the screenwriter has also penned the scripts for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot for Paramount and Platinum Dunes, the upcoming Divergent starring Shailene Woodley, and the De Niro/Travolta starring vehicle Killing Season.

| Jon Chu Will Return To Direct ‘G.I. Joe 3’Paramount Pictures saw some box office success in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and now they want more. The studio is starting off by signing on Jon Chu to direct the tentatively titled G.I. Joe 3. Little is known about the plot for the sequel, but producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura stated that he did want to see more ninja story in the sequel, which probably means we will see more of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Chu was a surprise choice to direct Retaliation, given that most of the films that he directed before it were music and dance related. After all he was known for directing films like Step Up 2: The Streets and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, films that have little to no action sequences.
