Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might that Mark Millar would make more comics like this and spend less time dicking around with Fox’s seemingly endless ability to fuck up every Marvel property they lay their hands on. Yes folks, it’s your ol’ pal Mr. Murphy here to review the MillarWorld’s latest creation: Starlight.

What if you were whisked away to another world where you saved its inhabitants from a tyrannical dictator, rescued the princess, thwarted evil doers, flew around in a classic 1950’s rocket ship and, in general, lived the fantasy that every boy has? Awesome, huh? Now what if you came home to Earth, retold the tales of your heroism, and no one believed you? Tomb of Dracula 1Writer Victor Gischler (X-Men, Death Of Dracula) and artist Goran Parlov (Marvel Universe Vs. The Punisher) bring us this tale of the rise of one special vampire above the rest of his kind from the ashes of a feud that tore his kind apart. This mysterious new leader of the vampires is a character from Marvel’s past that will also be central to the epic Fear Itself story that will be kicking off in April. Tomb of Dracula Presents: Throne of Blood #1 hits the shelves at your favorite comic book shop April 27th.

So we have an early look at what promises to be something different for Marvel heads to dig into. The cover art is modern and pretty great, but the interior pages feel very old school comic book. Backgrounds are a little bland overall. This style could very well be appropriate to the story the creators are trying to tell. These are great images because they not only show the art but they also offer up a little sample of the writing.

Check them out and let us know what you think!
