| New Trailer Confirms ‘The Phantom Pain’ Is ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’
The Spike Video Game Awards this past December brought with it the trailer for a mysterious game titled The Phantom Pain. There was plenty of speculation that the trailer was actually for Hideo Kojima‘s next game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, with the many reasons pointed out in detail by places like the Official PlayStation Magazine, who even nailed where the letters fit in the title. Now comes a new trailer for the game, which confirms what many have assumed all along: this is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Check out the trailer below.

| Spike VGAs 2012: ‘The Phantom Pain’ Trailer; Is It Really ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’?
A strange cinematic trailer was shown at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards for a game called The Phantom Pain. No one had ever heard of it, but it had a distinct Hideo Kojima feel to it, leading many to believe that the game is actually Metal Gear Solid V. Back in September we saw a 14-minute gameplay demo for a game described as being a Metal Gear Solid V prologue titled Ground Zeroes, so it was assumed that MGSV was not too far behind. | 14-Minute Gameplay Demo For ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’ Prologue ‘Ground Zeroes’ Released
Video game legend Hideo Kojima was on hand at the PAX 2012 convention recently to talk about his Metal Gear Solid franchise. Kojima didn’t announce the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 5 fans were hoping for, but he did announce that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which is in fact a prologue to MGS 5. He then showed off Ground Zeroes, which uses his brand new Fox Engine. A 14-minute video of the gameplay demo has now been released online, and can be seen below. The majority of the demo is an in-game cinematic that shows off how gorgeous the game looks, followed by a brief look at the equally impressive gameplay.

| ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie Adaptation Heads Into Production; Will Be Produced By Avi Arad, Hideo Kojima
If there were ever a video game franchise that needed to be adapted it would have to be Metal Gear Solid. Regardless of what you think of the quality of video game adapted films (most of the time they suck), studios keep churning them out, and no matter how sacred the franchise, studios see a property they like, they will turn it into a film. But maybe things aren’t as bad as they seem. At a Metal Gear anniversary party, there was a banner that read “Metal Gear Solid Hollywood Movie” with the Columbia Pictures logo located right below it. Arad and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima were on hand to confirm the project, where they said they “will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.”

| ‘Metal Gear’ Creator Hideo Kojima’s ‘Project Ogre’ Will Be Open-World, 100+ Hours
Hideo Kojimaa, video game godfather and creator of the Metal Gear franchise, has only spoken briefly on a game he’s been developing being called Project Ogre until now, but recently he shared some intriguing details on game. Speaking with CNN, Kojima described the game as an open-world experience, giving his players the freedom to wander and explore that they don’t have in his other games. He even posted a picture to his Twitter account (seen above) that many speculate is from Project Ogre as opposed to a new Metal Gear Solid title, which is also down the road (not counting Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance—a game that Kojima is only a producer on and not as directly involved in making).
