Dog Adoption Fair Kicks Off ‘Grinchmas’ At Universal Studios Hollywood
|
 |

This weekend marked the beginning of Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood, the annual holiday event hosted by The Grinch and his sidekick Max the Dog from Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale How The Grinch Stole Christmas. To kick off the event, the California theme park is partnering with the Amanda Foundation and the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services to host the Max to the Rescue: Whoville’s Have A Heart Pet Adoption Fair happening today, Sunday December 12, 2010, from noon to 4PM in an area located near the theme park’s main entrance.
Max the Dog will be there to greet the animal shelter dogs and potential new pet owners. “Max” is actually Dusty, Dexter, Buster, and Scrapper, former shelter dogs, who were “discovered” by trainers who felt their playfulness, intelligence and “look” who perfect for the the Grinchmas celebration, as well as for TV and film productions.
According to USH, during Grinchmas, the four Max dogs perform for 30-minutes at a time, then enjoy a leisurely hour and half break, all the while interacting with their trainers. The rest of their time is spent in dog runs and in the company of other canine friends.

‘The Lorax’ To Be The Next Dr. Seuss Tale Turned Into A Movie

The next Dr. Seuss property to be shipped off for a cinematic treatment will be The Lorax. The movie is expected to be another computer animated 3D movie, and will be produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. This movie will be the fourth Dr. Seuss adaptation: the first being Ron Howard’s live-action adaptation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey; the second being The Cat in the Hat with Mike Myers; and the third switching over to computer animation with Horton Hears A Who! again with Carrey and Steve Carell. Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Seuss’s (Theodor Geisel) widow Audrey Geisel will be among the film’s executive producers.
Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio are currently writing the script, as well as co-directing the movie along with Chris Renaud. All three men worked together in one aspect or another — whether it was storyboard art or writing — on Horton.
