John C Reilly

Out of all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe scheduled for release during Phase Two, James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy would be the only one that isn’t a sequel. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana (who reportedly isn’t fully committed to the film just yet), Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker all have starring roles in the film, with Lee Pace in negotiations to play the antagonist. The roles of Rocket Raccoon and Groot still have to be cast though, but with filming scheduled to begin later this summer, expect to hear of some names taking the role really soon.

Now it’s being reported that John C. Reilly (Wreck-It Ralph) has been offered a role as Rhomman Dey in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hugh Laurie Stars In Brad Bird's Tomorrowland

With George Clooney signed on to play the lead protagonist in Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland, the Damon Lindelof-penned sci-fi flick is still shrouded in mystery, but it’s been speculated that the film has to deal with UFOs and other extraterrestrial phenomenas. Disney historian Jim Hill theorizes that the Tomorrowland has a lot to do with Walt Disney’s involvement in informing the public of the existence of UFOs, a project called Project Blue Book. It’s still a theory, but given that popular culture tells us the government likes to impede these alien speculations, it makes a lot of sense. And now it looks like the film may have found its protagonist.

According to THR, House‘s Hugh Laurie is in talks to “serve as the movie’s antagonist,” but did not reveal any other detailed description as to who or what this antagonist does. Some say that Laurie’s role will be that of a government agent who will put a stop to Disney’s plans to release the alien information to the public.

Michael Keaton Image

Those who had been slightly turned around on the decision to remake the sci-fi classic RoboCop thanks to the very impressive cast that had been assembled were again disappointed when it was announced that Hugh Laurie, who was once in talks to play one of the film’s villains, had departed the project. But now it looks like an equally appealing name will be stepping into Laurie’s villainous role.

It’s being reported that the great Michael Keaton has joined the cast, where he’ll play the not-so-friendly CEO of the company that builds RoboCop.

Hugh Laurie

After House ended its series run earlier this year, Hugh Laurie was to make the jump to films starting off with a role as the villain in Jose Padilha’s Robocop. Now reports are coming in confirming that he won’t be in the film after all. Jeff Sneider of Variety reports that Laurie never had his deal finalized, even though he was in talks to star.

Sneider wrote: “HUGH LAURIE definitely out of ROBOCOP reboot, not that he was ever “˜in.'”

As to who his replacement could be, Deadline says that Clive Owen is in talks to play the rich CEO of OmniCorp, the organization that turns Detroit police officer Alex Murphy from a near-dead man into a half-human half-robot law enforcer. Of course this is done to make a profit and not protect the citizens of Detroit.
