
Jimi Jamison, best known as the lead singer of the band Survivor, was found dead today of an apparent heart attack. The singer was reportedly found at his home in Memphis, TN, by his son at around 1am on Monday morning and is believed to have died on Sunday. He was 63.
The Mississippi-born Jamison joined the Chicago rock band Survivor in 1984 after their 1982 smash-hit “Eye of the Tiger,” which was the theme song for the movie Rocky III, but was with the group for several of their other popular songs, like “Burning Heart,” which was used for Rocky IV, “High On You,” “I Can’t Hold Back,” “Is This Love?”, and “The Search Is Over.” He left the group in 1989, recorded several solo albums, and co-wrote/sang on the popular Baywatch theme song “I’m Always Here.” He eventually rejoined Survivor in 2000 for another six years, and then again in 2011 and has been touring with the band ever since, alongside original singer Dave Bickler.
