Release Date: January 4, 2018 One thing you have to appreciate about the Cloverfield franchise is that it is building its own mythology without the films’ actually knowing its a part of J.J. Abrams’ grand mystery box scheme. Cloverfield was a sci-fi romp that drew its found-footage inspiration from films like Blair Witch. 10 Cloverfield Lane was a more focused offering that was like a theatrical play set almost entirely in an underground bunker. And both are somehow loosely connected to each other without the characters of those films knowing it. However, Netflix surprised us all on Sunday night by releasing The Cloverfield Paradox, the latest installment of the Cloverfield franchise, this time set in space. Unfortunately, the entire film is a disjointed mess that haphazardly throws in dated and familiar plot devices and twists for the sake of being “Cloverfield In Space.” “©My full review below.”©

| Yes, Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ Movie Is R-Rated
Oh, you didn’t think Quentin Tarantino pitching an idea for a new Star Trek movie to J.J. Abrams that he might end up directing couldn’t get any stranger? Sit with me for a moment, my friends. Here, I made you some nice cocoa. Marshmallows are there on the table if you like. Careful now, it’s a bit hot. Everything about this was unexpected, of course. But one of the things that made it especially surprising was the part about Tarantino possibly directing. Not only has he never made a big blockbuster type movie—he’s only made eight movies total with a ninth on the way, and there’s been whispers of him potentially retiring from filmmaking after his 10th—but each and every one of his films has been R-rated. Star Trek movies, as you’re likely aware, are not R-rated. But never fear, Tarantino fans. As it turns out, even Star Trek is R-rated when it comes from Quentin. In fact, it was one of his requirements.

| Wait, What? Quentin Tarantino Working With J.J. Abrams On New ‘Star Trek’ Movie; Might Direct
A good “is it April Fools’ Day already?” story is always fun, and this one is a doozie. It’s being reported that Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill writer and director Quentin Tarantino has come up with what’s described simply as “a great idea” for a new Star Trek movie, and he has pitched that idea to producer J.J. Abrams, who directed a reboot of the Trek cinematic franchise in 2009 and a sequel in 2013. If that’s not unbelievable enough for you, it gets even crazier. The report says that if all goes well, Tarantino could even end up directing this new Star Trek movie.
