Cover Price: $9.99 In 2012, Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri teamed with writer Matt Hawkins to bring about an updated, re-imagined version of his cyber-enhanced super-team comic, Cyber Force. Celebrating twenty years since the series’ first launch, the creative team brought on illustrator Khoi Pham and began a Kickstarter campaign to raise enough funds to provide the first five issues completely free of charge! The first volume provides a great introduction of the characters and story for a Cyber Force newbie like myself. Carin is the daughter of the chairman and chairwoman of the CDI — a powerful cybernetic research organization that has been the guiding light to the world for many years. When 16-year-old Carin discovers that her father plans to systematically annihilate the human species in order to start the world over, she goes in search Morgan Stryker — a genetically modified cyber-human whom she believes may be able to help prevent the devastating scenario from occurring. Taken in by a group of rogue SHOCS — cybernetic soldiers — who are now deemed terrorists by the CDI, Carin has little time to convince them of her father’s plans, gain their trust, and find the one man who can help them all.

Cover Price: FREE In the early ’90s, Cyber Force was one of those grim, X-Men derivatives that never quite pulled away from a packed genre. I owned the first issue back in the day, but never opened it. Probably because I thought I was rich. I’d forever ruin my fortunes if I ever smudged the cover with my grimy, mortal fingers. Twenty years later, I really have no clue what happened to that comic. Looking at the price guides, should I ever find it, I could possibly cash it in and for a foot-long sub and a soda. Now that the get-rich-quick, collector phase of comics is merely a laughable side-note in history, many series born from that era are getting much deserved reboots. This past summer, Matt Hawkins conducted a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign to resurrect and re-imagine Cyber Force. He also promised to release the first five-issue story arc for FREE. That’s zero dollars. $0! This innovative utilization of crowd-funding is a concept that every comic fan should embrace. It’s like a movie theater letting you sit in on the first 30 minutes of a movie before asking you to pay to see the rest.

| Photo Parade: The Baltimore Comic-ConEarlier this month, I was lucky enough to visit this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con. Now I can go on and on about how great the convention was. I could say how awesome it was to meet Terry Moore, Steve Lieber, and Marc Silvestri. I tell you how nice it was to see Cliff Chiang, Khoi Pham, and JG Jones again. I could also tell you how great of an artist colorist Laura Martin is but why not show you guys in a series of photographs? Enjoy!

| Video Interview: ‘Mighty Avengers’ Artist Khoi PhamHere it is GoD readers, the first of several Jack Bauerstein exclusive video interviews from the floor of this year’s New York Comic Con. First up is Khoi Pham of Mighty Avengers fame. Khoi was nice enough to be our debut interview and did a kick ass job delivering a solid interview if i do say so myself. Khoi talks about working with writer Dan Slott, being a lawyer, and above all else, what’s in his fridge. He even rocked a bag of chips while doing it. Truly a man of many talents. Make sure you check out Pham’s official website.

| Geeks of Doom Invade New York Comic Con 2009; A Call For Reader Questions |
|
With the New York Comic Con just around the corner, Geeks of Doom is poised to cover the convention for readers and provide wall to wall coverage of the event. I will be manning the convention floor providing video coverage of the event but, loyal readers, I need your help. I am planning to do video interviews with various comic artists, writers, and just about anyone who wants to do an interview with me. Here are some of the interviewees I have lined up so far: Artist Khoi Pham , Artist Mitch Breitweiser, Southpeak Games, Atari, DC universe online (possible interviews with Jim Lee, Geoff Johns, and mystery guest), the cast of Dead Like Me and S. Darko.. and more. So this is where you folks come in: I am going to come prepared with a bunch of questions but I thought, maybe some of our readers have some questions for our interviewees. Do you want to know something about the Atari’s upcoming Ghostbusters game? Want to know more about Southpeak’s Velvet Assassin? We’re giving you a chance to ask these questions! Just drop Geeks of Doom a line at (clickable linky). Please make sure you label in the subject line as NYCC 09 Question. Ask any question you want for any one of the guests on the NYCC roster and I will do my best to track them down and have them answer it. (I seriously will do that if the question is good enough, I have no shame so I can definitely go up to a person and ask them a question.) I should have more interviewees soon, so send in those questions!
