William Shakespeare is, perhaps, the king of written tragedies. Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s darkest and saddest tales, is also arguably one of the greatest tragedies ever told. And the new film version of Shakespeare’s work starring Michael Fassbender in the titular role, looks to be the darkest adaptation ever performed judging by this newly released teaser trailer. You can read the description and check out the grim trailer below.

I think I remember the /film podcast really talking up Jaques Audiard previous film, A Prophet, and I even remember seeing the trailer numerous times in the theaters, but it never worked out for me to see the movie. It’s one I do want to watch eventually, even more after seeing his newest film, Rust and Bone. The story revolves a father (Matthias Schoenaerts, Bullhead) and son (Armond Verdue), who seem to travel from place to place, as they struggle to make ends meet. It seems the mother is out of the picture for the moment, there is mention of her supposedly using the kid to traffic drugs at one point in the movie. They end up at his sister’s place and he seems to find a somewhat steady job working security and bouncing at a club. One night he meets Stephanie (Marion Cotillard, Dark Knight Rises) as she has gotten in a fight with someone, and he takes her home.

| Bat Analysis: Dissecting ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer
In the past, I’ve combed over any and every Batman-related thing that’s come across my path to try and figure out what the secrets are that lie behind what we see at face value. It’s a little something that I like to call a “Bat-Analysis” and most of those items have had something to do with The Dark Knight Rises. So, it’s without question that I would approach the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises with the same mentality. I read a lot of Batman comics and have immersed myself within the content regarding the character, so how could I not? The only problem is, it’s nearly impossible to do that with this trailer. But nonetheless, I present to you my Bat Analysis of The Dark Knight Rises trailer.

Contagion
Directed by Steven Soderbergh
Starring: Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Elliott Gould, Jennifer Ehle, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, Chin Han, Griffin Kane, Sanjay Gupta
Release Date: September 9, 2011 Contagion is a movie that showed much promise with its previews and its advertised premise, but in reality it turns into 100 minutes of wasted production opportunities used instead to push stereotypical propaganda at the viewer. With its notable ensemble cast, and a plot device that is not new but has been proven to be popular over the years, the Steven Soderbergh film had huge potential that will do nothing but disappoint the thriller/horror fans expecting an epidemic epic. I have been quite a big fan of medical thrillers over the years, particularly those that focus on diseases and outbreaks. From stories of crazy Ebola-like viruses to weaponized disease, I’ve been fascinated with the concept both in its reality, and in its use as a plot device in thrillers. I have no rationalization for this attraction: perhaps it was the wonderful conclusion H.G. Wells brought us to in War of the Worlds, or perhaps it is the disease-based plot devices of some of my favorite zombie flicks. Either way, when word came out Soderbergh was taking up the subject; I was thrilled at the prospect.
