Check Out The ‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Trailer and Pic!

My favorite boys are back pretty soon, and it would not be Supernatural if one brother wasn’t going after another brother to save his life. The longevity of the show is due to its ability to still surprise you after all this time, even when the characters act predictably. Of course we already knew what Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) reaction was going to be… the Winchesters are our family too.
Check out the season 12 video and photo below.

THE ROAD SO FAR: This season on Supernatural, the boys have been to hell and back – literally. But that is usual, isn’t it? They got rid of the Mark of Cain, but released the Darkness, Amara (Emily Swallows), who appeared in the form of a baby. She grew up with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) for a while, feeding on souls, but left because she wasn’t interested in his goals. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) spent the season hunting Amara, yet working cases. They tried talking to Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) in the cage with the help of Rowena (Ruth Connell) and Crowley. Castiel (Misha Collins) said yes to Lucifer to stop Amara after Sam said no. Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) redeemed himself by writing God’s autobiography after Chuck (Rob Benedict) revealed himself, giving it to the Winchesters. He then sacrificed himself to save Lucifer, mankind’s only hope. After God and Lucifer hashed out their father and son issues, Amara came and mortally wounded God.
“Welcome to the end.”

Supernatural is winding down its 11th season, and it has been all about the darkness named Amara (Emily Swallow). God’s sister had been trapped for eons, until Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) mucked it up and let her out. They gambled with some bad beings, as usual, but Crowley and Lucifer and Rowena (Mark Sheppard, Mark Pellegrino, Ruth Connell) put together could not stop her. The brothers are trying to figure it out, but are still doing one-off cases in small town America – just another hunting day.
Spoilers for 11.20 “Don’t Call Me Shurley” below.

Last week’s Supernatural was a Sam/Lucifer (Jared Padalecki/Mark Pellegrino) love story as Lucifer hosted a “This is your Life” montage. We got to see the season 5 finale when Sam/Lucifer and Adam/Michael fell into hell. I think he genuinely can beat the darkness, but if it means Sam has to say yes…
Surprisingly, he does not. But that Lucifer is wily. At the last second, he got Castiel (Misha Collins) to say yes, so Lucifer got dressed in a Castiel suit. And then killed Rowena (boo!!).
Spoilers below.

Supernatural is back and so is the Geeks of Doom coverage of this guilty pleasure! When the fall finale ended last December, we found Sam (Jared Padalecki) trapped in the cage with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino – squee!!! I will watch him in anything!). Sam thought God (actual God, not Geeks of Doom) had been sending him visions that Lucifer was the answer to the Darkness (Emily Swallow) problem. Oh Sam. Have you learned nothing? God (or Chuck) is missing. It was Lucifer the entire time. Rowena (Ruth Connell) had been helping to loosen the cage on the sly. He wants Sam to say “Yes.” Sound familiar?

Last season, Supernatural ended with the Impala containing everyone’s favorite hunters, Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles), engulfed in rolling darkness. Oh, and the boys caused it. Dean killed Death (the ever enjoyable Julian Richings), in the ultimate fakeout. He was supposed to kill Sam and live in another plane of existence, in order to be rid of the Mark of Cain. Releasing the mark released the darkness, giving us the “big bad” of season 11. We all knew Dean would never kill Sam, after all the sacrificing and saving he has done for all these seasons. But what is a world without death. Is Dean death? Does someone step up?
I guess we will see. Spoilers if you have not watched the premiere!

The Road So Far: Just last week was Charlie’s (Felicia Day) funeral pyre, and the decimation of the Styne (as in Frankenstein) family by Dean (Jensen Ackles). Dean even killed the little “not so evil” Styne kid. After Charlie uploads all the answers and then bravely dies, Dean loses it. He totally blames Sam, and truth be told – it is kinda his fault. The episode last week was just Dean steeped in blood. Sam still wants to save him. He even tries to kill Crowley (Mark Sheppard), who had a fit about it, but then vowed to go back to his old, totally evil ways.

Sigh… next week is the last episode of the season. I’m going to miss my boys. Let’s recap first.
Last week‘s “Dark Dynasty,” brought us almost the full Styne (otherwise known as Frankenstein) family, bent on getting their hands on the Book of the Damned. I think they should go meet Dr. Dulmacher aka The Dollmaker from Gotham. They would have fit right in on his island. Their methods were so gross. I suppose there is no real way to cull body parts without being disgusting, but still.
Charlie, Castiel, and Rowena (Felicia Day, Misha Collins, and Ruth Connell) were like a comedy show, bickering in the funniest way possible. Until…

Last week’s Supernatural was one of my favorites of the season. “Angel Heart” brought us back to Claire Novak (Kathryn Love Newton), daughter of Jimmy Novak, Castiel’s (Misha Collins) vessel. She was looking for her mother, gone for years, searching for a Jimmy that lived in heaven by choice. Her mother was being captive by an ancient order of fallen angels… well angel, who sucked souls out of people slowly. It left them with heavenly dreams. What was great about that episode was the dynamic between this belligerent teenage girl, who really craved love, and each of the men. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Claire were really funny, having fun and trading insults. He taught her some hunter stuff, as did Sam (Jared Padalecki). And as much as Castiel said he merely felt responsible for her, I think he really cares for her as a father figure.

On Supernatural last week, it was back to the big search on how to break the curse of The Mark of Cain on Dean (Jensen Ackles). Sam (Jared Padalecki) teamed up with Rowena (Ruth Connell), who told him she could not read The Book of the Damned without the decoder, The Men of Letters Werther Box. Unfortunately, it was protected by a suicide spell – a green gas that caused the affected to see crazy things, play on their guilt and fears, and cause them to commit suicide. It was a dark and creepy episode, reminiscent of the some of the earlier super scary Supernaturals. I will say, it was really good to see Benny (Ty Olsson) again in fake Purgatory.
