The lack of Disney will surely be felt at San Diego Comic-Con this year. There will be no Disney Animation Studios. No Disney live-action films. No Pixar. And most definitely no Marvel.

There will however, be a panel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this after the franchise had their Star Wars Celebration event back in April. The cast and filmmakers will be on hand for what is expected to be the major event of the entire convention.

Andy Serkis won’t be revealing his face in a film any time soon. But at least we finally know the identity of his character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Continuing to wear the mocap makeup – dots and all – it has been been confirmed that the actor will be playing Supreme Leader Snoke. More after the break.

That was quick. In what was expected to be an announcement tomorrow, has come earlier, as it has been confirmed that for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie will be playing Captain Phasma, the Chrome Stormtrooper who has been seen in leaked images and the most recent trailer. The news follows confirmation that Adam Driver is Kylo Ren, the villain who wields a red crossguard lightsaber, and Lupita Nyong’o is Maz Kanata.

Unless you are currently residing in a cave next door to old Ben Kenobi’s pad on Tatooine, you might have caught the new teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens that premiered during yesterday’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA. The live stream cut out before the new teaser began, but was officially released online shortly thereafter, but if you’re interested in seeing how the crowd at Celebration reacted to the awe-inspiring trailer, a recording has surfaced, giving us both an eye and an earful of the excitement felt by the assembled masses.

Day one of our coverage of Star Wars Celebration isn’t quite over yet. For the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, We’ve already posted the new teaser trailer, new images, and what we’ve learned from the J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy panel. After it was all said and done, I went straight to check out The Force Awakens exhibit where some of the costumes, stormtrooper suits, BB-8, and some scaled models of the new X-Wing and Millennium Falcon.
