Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Image

First we found out that Michael Bay had plans to tweak the origin story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, dropping the “teenage mutant” part and instead having the quartet being aliens from another world. Fans were not pleased. After a bit of outrage, Bay told everyone to chill out. Again, not so popular. Then came the recent news that Megan Fox had been cast over a list of much better actress options to play April O’Neil. Fans’ heads exploded.

No, things have not exactly gone smoothly for this new attempt at a Ninja Turtles movie. And scheduling the movie has not done much to improve hopes.

At one point the project was shut down, and the release date pushed back from December of 2013 to May of 2014. Now the movie has been delayed once again.

TMNT: April O'Neil is Megan Fox

Well, it looks like Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is back on track as the studio has selected Transformers star Megan Fox as the film’s female lead, April O’Neil.

Directed by Jonathan Liebsman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is being produced by Michael Bay and his partners at Platinum Dunes.

Bay revealed the casting news on his blog with a sentence: “TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!” Variety then confirmed that Fox would be playing April O’Neil, a character that actresses such as Jane Levy (Fun Size), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) were also considered for.

This Is 40 PosterThis Is 40
Directed by Judd Apatow
Written by Judd Apatow
Starring: Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, John Lithgow, Megan Fox, Albert Brooks
Universal Pictures
Rated R | 134 minutes
Release Date: December 21st, 2012

In Judd Apatow‘s latest film, This Is 40, the writer/director revisits characters he created in 2007’s Knocked Up and examines the foibles of marriage.

Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) are a married couple in their 40s with children (Mann’s real-life daughters, Maude and Iris Apatow) under pressure, both economic and emotional.

This sort-of sequel to Knocked Up is Apatow’s first directorial effort since 2009’s Funny People. The filmmaker has been busy producing films like Get Him to the Greek, Bridesmaids, and The Five-Year Engagement – movies that fulfill the director’s artistic mission to blend requisite adult humor and layers of emotional depth all while exploring immaturity and characters who are forced to accept the curveballs life throws at them.
