King Diamond

Are you after a drop of a creepy view for this Halloween? Look no further than these two-part videos from the master of darkness himself, King Diamond, telling you the spooky tale of The Puppet Master, the story which forms the heart for his 2003 album of the same name.

The videos, which you can view at the bottom of this post, were recorded for a bonus DVD edition release of The Puppet Master. You can also seize yourself a copy of the album with the bonus DVD.

King Diamond has long been a permanent fixture in horror-style metal, and influential in the areas of Black Metal, Thrash Metal, and Death Metal. Bands such as Metallica and Megadeth cite King Diamond as a major inspiration in the realm of metal.

What If The Big 4 Metal Tour Was The Big 8?

The Big 4

Metal Sucks posed a question this week: If The Big Four were The Big 8, which bands would be the next four in the group?

If you’re unaware, The Big 4 Tour is comprised of thrash metal giants Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The tour is scheduled to arrive in just one city this April in the United States, much to the dismay of metalheads across the nation who wanted the tour to hit more cities.

I’ve seen some reactions from fans who aren’t in total agreement with this touring line-up, stating that not every band on the bill fits the “Big 4” mold. I happened to think it’s a great bill, but I’ve wondered what other bands would fit nicely on this tour.

So, if The Big 4 Tour was actually The Big 8 Tour, what four additional bands do you think deserve to be on it?

Check out my picks below and let me know what yours would be.

On November 18th, [my boyfriend] Kirk Hammett performed with Metallica in Tulsa, OK, on his 46th birthday. Some video was captured of the lead guitarist playing “Seek and Destroy” while the road crew ambushed him in celebration with silly-string.

Watch the video here below of the event and see how Kirk manages to continue playing the song — and doing the lead! — even though he and his guitar are covered with the sticky substance and he’s continuously getting strayed with the stuff. Now that’s talent.

Another video below is of Mercyful Fate frontman King Diamond performing with the “Mercyful Fate” medley with Metallica at the Ozzfest this summer.

One of the greatest pieces, if not the greatest piece, on Metallica’s 1998 double album of covers tunes, Garage Inc., was the track titled “Mercyful Fate.” The track was actually a medley of songs from Danish metal band: “Satan’s Fall,” “Curse of the Pharaoh,” “A Corpse Without Soul,” “Into the Coven,” and “Evil.”
