Monopoly is without doubt of the most popular and most recognizable board games ever created. And when it comes to the game, Hasbro has released about as many variations on it as possible””over 550 of them, ranging anywhere from Star Wars and Star Trek, to The Simpsons and Family Guy, Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean“”all except one, that is.

Elisabeth Redel of Germany has created her own variation of Monopoly, this one inspired by the hit video game franchise, Fallout, which is owned by Bethesda Softworks. Redel spent many hours crafting the special game for her boyfriend…who I’m very, very jealous of.

Turning toys and games into movies is no new deal. Dodgeball: An Underdog Story, Transformers, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra have come and gone, with movies based on Battleship, Stretch Armstrong, Clue, Candy Land, Ouiji, Monopoly, and others still on the way. Adding to the party, Universal Pictures has announced that they have plans to take the legendary Barbie and turn her into a live-action movie, as well.

As crazy as these announcements always sound, this decision is a no-brainer, really. As her maker Mattel states, the toy celebrity has 99% worldwide brand awareness. You don’t have to be Good Will Hunting to know that’s pretty strong. The question here really is: what do you actually DO for a Barbie movie? The current plan to get going on finding some writers to take it on, but producer Laurence Mark isn’t worried, explaining that Barbie has had over 120 jobs over her 50-year existence, which opens the door to countless choices.

In one very interesting bit o’ news, it has been officially announced that Ridley Scott will direct a movie for Universal Pictures based on the board game Monopoly.

The script is written by Pamela Pettler, who also wrote Monster House and Corpse Bride. Along with Ridley Scott, Hasbro’s Brian Goldner will produce.

No word yet on the plot or who, if anyone, will play the iconic white-mustached man. My guess is that it won’t really look like Monopoly at all, which is why this project is hard to imagine. Best bet is that you’ll have a created story based in the world of real estate investments, maybe with mention of Park Place once or twice. Either that, or the city of Monopoly will be attacked by a gigantic metal doggy. Cloverfield style.
