Last week’s Louie gave us the always welcome gift of guest star Michael Rapaport. This week we get the return of Robert Kelly. Awesome two weeks!
Definitely a couple of spoilers below!
Louie 5.4 “Bobby’s House” is a classic Louie episode, filled with awkward silence, utter humiliation, and laughter at Louie’s pain. Louie (Louis C.K.) gets a call from his brother Bobby asking if he’s going to their uncle’s wake. Louie did not know about it – with good reason. Their uncle did not die, and they ended up at the wrong funeral. They are so far in, they can’t back out of it, so they pay their respects.
Funny – Bobby goes to kneel and make the sign of the cross at the stranger’s funeral. Is it weird to find a funeral scene funny?

Last week’s Louie was a Pamela episode (Pamela Adlon). She’s a spicy tamale! Louie (Louis C.K.) does not know how to handle that. The week before, Louie had sex with a surrogate and her water broke. What is in store for him this week?
I love that every episode of Louie could be a standalone episode while also connected to others. That is real life though, right?
It opens with Louie shopping in a cooking store. It’s about to close and the owner does not want to help him, not caring about the sale. She spins a convincing tale on why he doesn’t matter because he’s old, and characteristic of Louie, he agrees.
“We’re the future. You don’t belong in it. Because we’re beyond you.” Ouch!

Louie season 5 premiered last week and our favorite awkward comic, Louis C.K., gave us a triple dose of embarrassing scenarios. Before we get to the review of Louie 5.2 “A La Carte,” let’s give a tiny recap of the premiere.
This was undoubtedly the most humiliating episode for our Louie (Louis C.K.) in a long time. He just did the wrong thing at every turn. He decides to go to a potluck for school parents. He ends up at the wrong one after impressively banging out some good-looking fried chicken. After he finally figures this out, he’s forced to go to the local chicken joint to fake out a replacement. He probably should have stayed at the other one because everybody was not nice. I mean, he said lots of weird things, but still.

TV Review: Louie 5.1 “Pot Luck”

Louie
Season 5 Episode 1 “Pot Luck”
Directed by Louis CK
Created and written by Louis CK
Starring Louis CK, Dena Tyler, Pamela Adlon, Hadley Delany, Ursula Parker, Judy Gold, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Susan Kelechi Watson
FX
Air Date: Thursday, April 9th, 2015, 10:30pm
After a small recap of Season 4, you get a review of Louie 5.1 “Pot Luck.” There are barely any spoilers.
Last season ended with Louie and Pamela finally being in sort of a relationship place, after that controversial scene in “Pamela Part 1.” Things moved a little more forward in “Pamela Part 2,” with Louie finally saying, “I love you” at the end of “Pamela Part 3.” Pamela’s non-answer was telling. And I thought there was hope for these crazy kids after meeting the ex-wife and exchanging kid exposure (sounds way worse than what it was).
Louie 5.1 “Pot Luck” review: Louie’s stand-up in the beginning of the episode is hysterical as usual. Topic? Aliens and life on other planets. Needless to say, it won’t be good, for many funny reasons.

Every once in a while, a critic must suck up his pride and cover a film that would have never registered on his radar. For me, that is what I experienced with the latest entry in the Disney Fairies series, Secret of the Wings. Though this Tinker Bell-themed movie presents nothing new to the direct-to-video blueprint, I must admit that this “flitterrific” film offers pleasant amusement. Let’s fly right into this review.
