The Ballad of Lefty Brown

It’s one of those exciting times to be alive if you’re a big fan of anything involving the old west.

Just this week we saw a teaser for an upcoming Netflix limited series titled Godless. Before that was a trailer for the Christian Bale western Hostiles, and the announcement of a Netflix anthology series from none other than the Coen brothers titled The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs. And of course, how could anyone forget the long-awaited video game sequel to Red Dead Redemption coming soon.

Now you can add one more to that list, The Ballad of Lefty Brown. A24 has released a new trailer for the movie, which follows Bill Pullman as a man who witnesses the murder of his longtime partner and sets off on a quest to avenge him. You can read more about The Ballad of Lefty Brown and watch the trailer below.

Roger Corman

Roger Corman may be known to most as the premiere producer of some of the finest exploitation movies ever made, but to those in the know he is also one of the most important and influential figures in the entertainment industry. Many of Hollywood’s finest talents on both sides of the camera owe their careers in some part to the go-for-broke tutelage they were given by working for Corman, including filmmakers like Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Robert Towne, Peter Bogdanovich, and Ron Howard, and actors like Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Bruce Dern, and Robert Englund. Corman is a legend, and that is the undisputed truth.

This summer Corman is bringing a catalog of over 400 films he produced and/or directed to the vast cybernetic landscape of the Internet as he launches Corman’s Drive-In, a YouTube channel that will offer up his films for viewing for a fee still yet to be determined.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints DayBoondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Sony Home Entertainment
Release Date: March 9, 2010

If you read Geeks of Doom, you know I’ve been one of the biggest supporters of a sequel to 1999’s The Boondock Saints for as long as one has been rumored, which is about eleven years now. And from the moment Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day became official, any time anything was released about the movie, I was jumping on it. Various different posts came of it all, including interviews with stars Clifton Collins Jr. and Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus.

Because of my love for the first and my being proud of its Boston roots, that made me a likely biased candidate to review the film when it was released on DVD and Blu-ray, but it was in-fact only fitting that I do so. I did enjoy the movie after all was said and done, but surprisingly, there were also things that I was not a big fan of and I’ll be sure to share them all!

Judd Nelson & Peter Fonda Join The Cast Of ‘Boondock Saints 2’

In an announcement that no one likely saw coming, legendary actor Peter Fonda (Easy Rider, Ulee’s Gold) as well as Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) have both joined the cast of Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.

This news, released by DCP Boondock II Productions, comes as filming has just about finished over in Toronto, so it seems as if director Troy Duffy has been saving some of the best for last.

Mr. Fonda will be playing a character who has quite the intriguing name, The Roman. No word as to who The Roman is or what he does, but it sounds nice and scary to me. Judd Nelson will be playing Concezio Yakavetta, whom I’d be silly not to assume is a member of the mafia family from the first film; likely seeking revenge for his fallen brother? Maybe cousin? Could be interesting.

As we know, the movie also stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as the Saints and Billy Connolly as their father Il Duce. Also new to the party is Clifton Collins Jr. as Romeo and Julie Benz as Eunice.
