‘Boondock Saints’ Prequel In The Works!
|
 |

No movie better defines the phrase “word of mouth hit†than Troy Duffy’s 1999 cult classic, The Boondock Saints. People forget just how long ago 1999 was, and no, I don’t mean numerically (16-years). In 1999 I was 17, waiting for dial up connection to get my AOL going so I could instant message my friends. My cell phone was the size of a brick, and I had a huge collection of movies… on video cassette. So when my friend Mike introduced me to The Boondock Saints, yes, on VHS, I had not heard of it on the internet, and looked it up on IMDB.com. We watched with friends and almost immediately, I was hooked. I found a copy at the video store and took it up to college with me, where I played it for everyone. By my junior year, friends were now passing along my new DVD of it and we had incorporated drinking games into it. The movie became such a phenomenon that several of my good friends have Boondock Saints tattoos, and we like to claim that we loved star Norman Reedus before it was cool… sorry Walking Dead fans.

‘The Boondock Saints 3’ Has An Official Title, Plot

It’s been a little over a year since writer and director Troy Duffy said that The Boondock Saints 3 was still happening. Not much has transpired since then, but Duffy offered some new info recently.
In a Facebook Q&A session, Duffy shared an official title for the planned trilogy-maker, as well as some details on what the movie will be about. You can see what he had to say below, but be warned that there is a Boondock Saints II spoiler involved if you’ve not yet seen the sequel.

Director Troy Duffy Says ‘The Boondock Saints 3’ Is Still Coming; TV Show In The Works

It took a decade for fans of the cult hit The Boondock Saints to finally get a sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day in 2009. There were many ups and downs on the road to that first sequel, so it should come as no surprise that the same thing is happening with The Boondock Saints III.
First we heard from star Sean Patrick Flanery that the trilogy-maker was being written, then his co-star Norman Reedus later said that the third installment was definitely being worked on. But something went wrong, and only a couple of days later Reedus said the movie wasn’t happening after all.
Now the man behind the movies, director Troy Duffy, is talking about the next installment, as well as the potential TV series.

Check That: Now ‘The Boondock Saints 3’ Might NOT Be Happening

Many apologies if the recent news that The Boondock Saints III had you buzzing with excitement, as it now looks like the movie isn’t happening anymore. At least not at the moment. My, my—how quickly things change in Hollywoodland.
Just a couple of days ago Norman Reedus, star of the first two movie and The Walking Dead, said that he was about to meet with director Troy Duffy and co-star Sean Patrick Flanery to discuss Boondock III, and he seemed pretty excited by the project.
It appears that that meeting might not have gone so well as Reedus has now shared on the Twitter that the third installment isn’t happening. Continue on to see the tweets.

‘The Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus Confirms ‘The Boondock Saints 3’

As many of you know, it took a decade for director Troy Duffy to get his long-awaited sequel to the 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints made. But, after much patience, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day did finally get made. And if you’ve seen it, you know that it made sure to leave an intriguing door open for a possible trilogy-making movie.
While nothing has been made official yet, The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has made sure to give fans hoping for said third movie a shiny bit of hope that they won’t have to wait nearly as long for The Boondock Saints III, saying recently that the movie is indeed happening with fellow Saint Sean Patrick Flanery and Duffy both involved.

Convention Report: Motor City Comic Con 2012
|
 |

The Motor City Comic Con is not a newcomer on the convention scene, but I can’t help but feel it’s a late-bloomer still unsure how things are meant to run.
The 2012 convention was held in Detroit, Michigan, last month and turnout this year appeared much higher than the rain-plagued 2011 event. Walking through the comics side of the Suburban Collection Showplace proved difficult as crowds clamored around the various comic and collectible vendors. Big name artists like Ethan Van Sciver and Talent Caldwell were almost always seen talking with fans or busy working on sketches.
But conventions like this are also a good place for smaller, local talents to find a wider audience. I Love Lightning Bugs, a band heralding from Royal Oak, Michigan, had a booth showcasing both their music and a new comic book illustrated by local artist Mindy McPeak featuring the band members adventures into the paranormal. First looks suggest a Gorillaz-esque alternative reality but with protagonists based on real people.

Sean Patrick Flanery Confirms ‘Boondock Saints 3’ Being Written Now
|
 |

Among the plethora of media and comic stars that appeared at the 2012 Motor City Comic-Con this weekend, the biggest draw was by far Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco, stars of the cult classic film The Boondock Saints. Though originally slated to appear, Norman Reedus was unable to attend MCCC due to filming obligations for the third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. That left the two three-named stars to pose for pictures and sign autographs for hours on end. The only time “The Saints†seemed to step away from their table was to take part in a short discussion panel about cult classics with Sherilyn Fenn of Twin Peaks, James Duval of Donny Darko, and Patricia Quinn of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The panel itself got off to an awkward start as the lights remained off for the first 10 minutes and there was no microphone for audience members to use. But Flanery kept things going by sharing humorous stories about his Boondock Saints co-stars and fielding questions to the other guests when it appeared the audience was mostly there for him.

Go See Christopher Lloyd On The Big Screen In ‘Insight’
|
 |

I don’t know about you, but if I see the name Christopher Lloyd on a movie, I’m watching it.
This weekend, Lloyd’s new film InSight will be released in limited theaters, and also stars Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Adam Baldwin (Firefly), Natalie Zea (Justified), Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie), and Veronica Cartwright.
You can check out the trailer here below for the film, directed by Richard Gabai, but I’ll be honest — the trailer doesn’t do the movie justice. Matter of fact, it plays like a Funny or Die parody of a psychological paranormal thriller. So, maybe skip the trailer and just go by who’s actually in the movie.
Oh, and the story, story is important too: an ER nurse (Zea) gets zapped while trying to revive a dying woman who’s been stabbed. She then immediately gets the woman’s memories; of course, everyone thinks she’s nuts now and she’s basically going nuts because she’s got this other chick’s memories taking over her brain. So, understandably, she sets out to solve the crime on her own and then luckily the detective on the case (Flanery) teams up with her. Lots of crazy shit happens and there’s stuff about life to be learned too, and apparently, about the dangers of defibrillators.

‘The Boondock Saints’ Cast & Crew Heading Overseas For USO Tour In Support Of Troops
|
 |

No matter what your personal opinion of The Boondock Saints or Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day might be, you can’t help but love and respect something like this.
USO shows are a staple in entertaining and bringing smiles to the faces of our military’s troops as they serve our country, and countless stars and celebrities have made their way to these shows over the years to do their best to keep spirits and morale as high as possible during tough times.
Now, stars of the two Saints films, Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus (who spoke to us a while back about Boondock II among other things), as well as Brian Mahoney, director Troy Duffy, and producer Chris Brinker are heading off on their own trip. Their destination: the Middle East, where they will take part in one of these USO entertainment tours, allowing them to meet many of our country’s soldiers, sign autographs, and take pictures with those who risk their lives to defend our nation.
