|
Nothing to go dancing around crazy-giddy-happy about, but a couple of images from some exciting upcoming movies that are in the beginning stages of production have been released online.
The first comes from Comic Book Movie, who have gotten their hands on a sneaky photograph from the set of Green Lantern. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a pilot who discovers a space craft that has crashed and finds himself presented with a special ring, making him the newest member of a group known as the Green Lanterns. The movie also stars Blake Lively as Jordan’s boss and eventual love interest, Mark Strong as the evil villain Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond, and Tim Robbins, who will play the Senator father of Hammond.
The set image actually shows what is assumed (as you can plainly see) to be the aforementioned space craft that crashes on Earth and sets all of the events of the movie into motion.
Hum a little tune to yourself and frolic over to the other side to check out these two first peeks at these movies.

Tim Robbins Joins The Cast Of DC Comics’ ‘The Green Lantern’
Back in December of 2008, there was a fun little rumor that Tim Robbins would be showing up in Iron Man 2 as Tony Stark’s father, but sadly that was just not to be.
Now comes word that Robbins has actually been cast in another fatherly comic book movie role; the actor will be playing Senator Hammond in The Green Lantern. The Senator is the father of Peter Sarsgaard‘s Dr. Hector Hammond character, a pathologist who gains psychic and telepathic abilities from a meteor and eventually becomes a villain in the story. The father and son duo have always had issues seeing eye-to-eye.

Ryan Reynolds To Battle Peter Sarsgaard In ‘Green Lantern’
|
|
The heat is being turned up on the Green Lantern lately. After a long bout of silence followed the casting of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, we finally were informed recently that Blake Lively would be joining him in the female lead. This news is now being followed-up with reports that Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations with Warner Brothers to join the cast as the evil villain Dr. Hector Hammond.
If all comes together, this is how the characters work: Lively plays Carol Ferris, who runs her father’s aerospace company and hires Reynolds’ Hal Jordan as a test pilot. Jordan is sent out to a crash site that turns out to be an alien who gives him the powerful ring that makes him the Lantern. And finally, if Saarsgaard is cast, his Hammond character is a pathologist with daddy issues who gains psychic abilities from a meteor.
Green Lantern is being directed by Martin Campbell. Campbell has directed a pair of Zorro movies in The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro, as well as a pair James Bond movies in Goldeneye and Casino Royale. His latest film is the Mel Gibson starring Edge of Darkness, which comes out on the 29th of January.
