Pride and Prejudice and Zombies postcards

We’ve written a lot about Quirk’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies books in the past few years and it happens to be one of my favorite mash-ups ever — AND, let’s face it, that first book pretty much launched the zombie mash-up genre.

I recently noticed that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: 30 Postcards, which is a postcard book with illustrations based on the book, is on sale right now for only $1.74 – that’s 83% off the list price of $9.95!

Now, even if you’re not a huge fan of zombies or Jane Austen, you have to admit, $1.74 for 30 postcards is an awesome price. I looked around and this set is sold out in most places, and the vendors that do have it are selling it for the full price, so I’d say grab this now at Amazon while it’s still available and while the price is so low! I just snagged two of these myself.

It seems like ages ago we found out that actress Natalie Portman and director David O. Russell had decided to walk away from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the movie adaptation of author Seth Grahame-Smith‘s twist on the classic Jane Austen novel…which of course adds the walking dead to the formal 19th century setting.

According to sources Lionsgate has now chosen their leading lady to replace Portman, formally offering the role to Emma Stone. Stone is of course best known from Zombieland and Easy A, and has also appeared in Superbad, The Rocker, The House Bunny, and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

The movie adaptation of author Seth Grahame-Smith‘s strange combination of zombies and Jane Austen‘s classic, Pride and Prejudice, has faced a few complications on its road to the silver screen…specifically when it came to finding a director for the job, which has failed twice now.

Perhaps a third time will be the charm; it’s being reported that Craig Gillespie has now been hired to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Gillespie has previously directed Lars and the Real Girl, Mr. Woodcock, and episodes of The United States of Tara. His next movie will be the upcoming remake of the 1985 horror favorite, Fright Night, which stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, and Toni Collette.

Quirk 2010 Mix Tape

At the end of 2010, a nifty little item arrived from Quirk Books, the publisher of such titles as Dracula’s Heir, Night of the Living Trekkies, The Encyclopedia Shatnerica, and of course, their most popular offering, the zombie/classic lit mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: a Mix Tape!

The image above was on the cover of the cassette case (click image to see the full view, including the actual tape), and inside was what looked like a cassette tape, but upon further inspection, I saw that it was actually a USB flash drive. A message inside explained that because the good folks at Quirk Books love me soooooo much, they put together a mix of songs as a thank you.

Mike White Confirmed As New Director Of ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’

Lionsgate has selected Mike White to direct their adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith‘s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an adaptation in itself of Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice.

Not too long ago it was reported that original director, David O. Russell, had decided to step away from the project, which was followed by the exit of star Natalie Portman — both due to scheduling conflicts. And while Portman will remain on-board as a producer, Russell jumped over to a video game adaptation of the hit title, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for Sony Pictures.

After that, two top contenders to replace Russell in the director’s chair emerged: Neil Marshall and Mike White. Marshall has a lot of experience having directed titles like The Descent, Doomsday, and Centurion, and was clearly the favorite for the job. White was something of an underdog, on the other hand, having only directed one feature, Year of the Dog, and typically being associated with comedy. But alas, White showed something to Lionsgate that they liked, and the underdog has prevailed as the victor.
