iZombie
Season 1 Episode 6: “Virtual Reality Bites”
Directed by Dermott Downs
Written by Gloria Calderon Kellett
Created by Rob Thomas
Starring Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, David Anders
The CW
Air Date: Tuesday, April 21st, 2015, 9:00pm Delicious episode this week! But before that, let’s recap iZombie from last week. Liv (Rose McIver) found the meaning of YOLO inside, after eating the adrenaline junkie brains of an old college friend. Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) did not get in trouble this week — a refreshing change. His boss is a zombie too. They are everywhere! Major (Robert Buckley) went to the skate park to find the Candyman. He found him and got his ass kicked. The reason I said I was confused last week, was because they went from a shot of Major bleeding on the sidewalk, to a bodybag, to Liv riding a bike through the streets exhilarated. I really thought that Major was in that bodybag, which would have been a shocker whether or not he was really dead or a new zombie. Liv meets a potential zombie boyfriend. And boy, is he cute!

iZombie
Season 1 Episode 5: “Flight Of The Living Dead”
Directed by David Warren
Written by Deirdre Mangan
Created by Rob Thomas
Starring Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, David Anders
The CW
Air Date: Tuesday, April 14th, 2015, 9:00pm Before I review iZombie 1.5 “Flight Of The Living Dead,” let me recap what happened to the cutest zombie in America last week. Previously, on iZombie 1.4 “Live and Let Clive,” this episode was about… you guessed it – Clive (Malcolm Goodwin)! It was an Asian gang murder (you could tell by the missing fingers), and Liv’s (Rose McIver) vision stars Clive as the bad guy! Now normally she would give him the benefit of the doubt, but he is also being very secretive and not letting him help on the case. Dr. Ravi (Rahul Kohli) thinks she’s jumping to conclusions and we now know he was right. The other storyline is the lucrative brain business that Blaine (David Anders) is running. He has a chef creating brain “delicacies” and his market is rich zombies. Two of his goons try to branch out but are shut down almost immediately. Sadly, it looks like the supply is coming from people no one would look for. But Major (Robert Buckley) is looking.

iZombie
Season 1 Episode 4: “Liv and Let Clive”
Directed by John Kretchmer
Written by Kit Boss
Starring Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, and David Anders
The CW
Air Date: Tuesday, April 7th, 2015, 9:00pm Let’s remind ourselves what happened in iZombie last week, before this week’s review. Spoiler alert! During last week’s iZombie 1.3 “The Exterminator,” Liv (Rose McIver) and Ravi (Rahul Kohli) get the opportunity to test a cure for zombie-ism, when they discover a completely turned trapped zombie. There is a harrowing moment when Ravi falls into the pit with the zombie, and Liv doesn’t act. Her hesitation is not that – the hit man brains she ate, also basically had no feelings. The danger in this zombie world, is that you can catch it from just a scratch. That is how Liv became one. The no feelings thing did help when Liv saw her ex-fiance, Major (Robert Buckley), getting cozy with another girl on social media.

iZombie
Episode 1.1 (Pilot)
Director: Rob Thomas
Screenwriter: Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero-Wright
Cast: Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, David Anders
The CW
Air Date: March 17, 2015, 9pm From writer/director Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and based on the graphic novel of the same name, iZombie centers on Olivia “Liv” Moore, a bright young woman who’s also a newly turned zombie. Her “illness” forces Liv to abandon dreams of becoming a doctor and marrying her handsome fiancé. Devastated, she clings to what’s left of her humanity by working in the city morgue, where she has a convenient supply of fresh brains, and incidentally takes up a hobby solving murders. I had the pleasure of screening the pilot episode at SXSW, followed by a Q&A with director/writer Rob Thomas, writer Diane Ruggiero-Wright, and the principal cast.
