Tonight saw the end of Season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead, AMC’s prequel series that was supposed to show us the start of the zombie apocalypse that resulted in the events of The Walking Dead. This prequel spin-off was only six episodes, and the first four episodes alone had a lot of set-up, where people were becoming infected and it was assumed at first to be the flu. That supposed illness turned into the infected dying, and then coming back to “life” somewhat, attacking the first responders there to help them. But, even when witnessing these unbelievable altercation, people found it difficult to comprehend that something was truly wrong here and most ignored the warning signs that things were going to get worse.

Last week’s episode, 1.5 “Cobalt,” finally saw some action, with a lot of revelations, and was the most like its parent show. The season finale (Episode 1.5 “The Good Man”), on the other hand, was a lot less shocking, and pretty predictable.

Here we are at the penultimate episode of AMC’s very short first season of Fear the Walking Dead and finally we’re getting some real information. One vital piece of information revealed was the meaning of codeword “Cobalt,” the episode title, which was also the codename for this Walking Dead prequel. But, we’ll get back to that in a minute.

Spoilers…

In the previous four episodes, we mostly dealt with guidance counselor Madison (Kim Dickens), her druggie son, Nick (Frank Dillane), her annoying daughter Alicia, (Alycia Debnam Carey), and her do-gooder naive fiance Travis (Cliff Curtis). They saw events unfold that brought about chaos to the streets of Los Angeles, where the seemingly dead were walking, and back home, they witnessed their infected neighbors “turn” into the undead. It took this group a while to come to terms with the fact that something was truly wrong and that they needed to get out of town.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim 2 writer Zak Penn, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Lost“˜s Jeff Pinkner, Ant-Man co-writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, Lindsey Beer (The Fugitive remake), Christina Hodson (the re-imagining of Wizard of Oz), former Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight, Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Black List script Hibernation) are all members of the Transformers shared universe writing team. Led by Akiva Goldsman, the plan is to take the franchise beyond the films we have seen so far. Rumors of this expansion include spinoffs centering on Bumblebee, a Cybertron origins film, and possibly Beast Wars. But there is one certainty: Paramount wants to have a Transformers 5, and they want Michael Bay to direct it.

The plan was to have a script ready in time for Bay when he completes his work on the Bengazhi film 13 Hours. While nothing is official yet, it appears that the Armageddon director is interested in coming back to direct his fifth Transformers film. But there is more. A new report is coming out that give us a look at what the writing teams have come up with in four short months. More on the story below.

Fear The Walking Dead Ep 103

Fear the Walking Dead
Season 1 Episode 3 “The Dog”
Directed by Adam Davidson
Written by Jack LoGiudice
Starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Lorenzo James Henrie, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, Patricia Reyes Spindola
AMC
Air Date: Sunday, September 13, 2015, 9pm

Fear the Walking Dead Episode 3, “The Dog,” brings us to the halfway point of this very short first season of the original AMC drama. This inaugural season is set in Los Angeles in the time leading up to the great zombie apocalypse that wiped out most of humanity, as seen in The Walking Dead. So far, our lead characters have seen firsthand those who have been infected by the zombie virus, but they don’t yet know what the ramifications are.

In the previous episode, we saw a few instances of people who were inflected by something “” presumed by most to merely be the flu “” but the infirmed were acting strange. Their eyes were light and glassy and they weren’t responding to anyone who tried to speak to them. More importantly, they attempted to attack and bite anyone who came near them. High school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) saw this behavior at her school, when the kindly principal turned growling and vicious on her. She also witnessed this when she and her fiance Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) went to rescue her missing son, Nick, (Frank Dillane), and they had a run-in with his zombified childhood friend, Calvin. Madison and Travis know this is not just a flu, and can’t possibly comprehend the severity of the circumstances at this point, but they do realized they need to get out of town before things get worse.
