When I first heard about AMC’s The Walking Dead, I was very intrigued. Not many networks take chances on comic book properties, let alone one that has nothing to do with tights or flights. I had read a few issues of the comic prior to watching the series and liked them very much, but for the most part I went into the series not really knowing what to expect, and I think that’s why I was so taken aback by what I saw.

From previews and television spots one could surmise that the show would be a relentless gore fest. While there is plenty of gore, The Walking Dead doesn’t rely on that to propel its incredible story. Producer Frank Darabont has an immense passion for this show, one that shines through in each episode on the recently released DVD/Blu-ray sets.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Preview To Hold You Over

Now that the 6-episode first season of AMC’s The Walking Dead has come and gone, we’re in for a long wait with word that a second season won’t hit until some time next fall.

Season 2 will run 13 episodes this time around, which is quite exciting to think about. To help make the wait just a little more bearable, AMC has released a new video with cast and crew talking about their first-season run and where they hope to go in the future.

Among those who speak, you’ll find writer, director, and producer Frank Darabont, comic book creator Robert Kirkman, producers Gale Anne Hurd and Denise Huth, and stars Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies.

Watch Now: ‘The Walking Dead’ Comic-Con Trailer; Series Release Date Set

An extended trailer for AMC’s The Walking Dead premiered last month at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, offering up a first look at the upcoming series.

That trailer, which runs over four minutes, is now online. Watch it here below!

Also, AMC has announced that the series debut, which will be 90 minutes long, will air on Halloween night, Sunday, October 31, 2010, at 10PM ET & PT/9 PM C, during the network’s annual marathon of thriller and horror films, Fearfest. Later episodes of The Walking Dead will be an hour long.

The Walking Dead, which is based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, is written and directed by Frank Darabont, and stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, and Jeffrey DeMunn.
