| Movie Review: Finders Keepers |

Finders Keepers
Amazon Instant Video
Directed by Bryan Carberry and Clay Tweel
Starring Shannon Whisnant and John Wood
The Orchard
Running Time: 82 minutes
Release Date: October 2, 2015 I used to hear the saying “finders keepers” quite much when I was a kid. It was usually followed by “losers weepers.” You know the deal; a friend of yours finds something really cool lying around and gets excited about it as if were a glorious treasure, that is until you see it and realize that it actually belongs to you and you have been looking for it for what seems like the longest time. You tell your friend this, ask them if you can have it back, but unfortunately… “Finders keepers, losers weepers!” The little creep’s mocking tone doesn’t help matters one bit. You hear that less as you mature into adulthood because that just isn’t the kind of thing grown-ups say to each other. At least you would think that. A new documentary aptly titled Finders Keepers begs to differ with an unusual but quintessentially American tale of two men, a barbecue grill, and the severed limb said grill happened to contain that they battled over in full view of the nation and its media that always becomes instantly enthralled by such insanity.

| ‘Uncharted’ Movie Gets Pushed Back A Full Year
The Uncharted movie continues to travel a rather bumpy road after numerous writers, directors, and rumored stars have been attached and detached and replaced on the project. Last July Sony pushed back The Amazing Spider-Man 3 two years from 2016 to 2018 (before that who reboot was scrapped for the new re-reboot tag team effort with Marvel), and moved the movie based on Naughty Dog’s hit video game series Uncharted into Spidey’s June 2016 slot. Now comes word that Sony has moved the Uncharted movie back yet again, this time bumping it back an entire year to June 30, 2017.

| Seth Gordon To Direct ‘Baywatch’ Starring Dwayne JohnsonThe long-gestating adaptation of Baywatch may actually be happening this time. After going through numerous script drafts, Paramount believes that Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is the right person to helm the adaptation of the beach-based drama action television series that aired 242 episodes and was on air for 11 seasons. But rather than have the series star David Hassseloff make the slow-motion run on the beach to make a lifesaving rescue, it looks like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be the one to take his place and lead his team of bikini-clad lifeguards who patrol the sunny sandy beaches of Los Angeles, California. More on this story below.

| Sony Sets Release Dates For ‘Sinister Six,’ ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3,’ ‘Uncharted’ |
|
A year ago Sony Pictures Entertainment had such high hopes for their rebooted Spider-Man franchise. Production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was moving forth without a hitch and early footage from the blockbuster sequel screened at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con to an enthusiastic response. Back in December the studio was so certain that it was going to be the biggest movie of this summer, if not 2014, that they announced plans to exploit their ownership of the movie rights to the Spider-Man universe by developing spinoffs that would star Spidey villains Venom and the Sinister Six. The plan originally was for Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriters Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner to collaborate on the Venom feature, while Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard would write and eventually be called upon to direct the Sinister Six movie. Then Amazing Spider-Man 2 opened to withering reviews from critics and less box office than the studio had initially projected. I haven’t seen the second movie in the rebooted series yet but the consensus is that the gluttony of villains, lack of attention paid to the main characters, and an anti-climatic ending that was to have paved the way for the spinoffs are what hurt its chances at the box office. A $706 million worldwide haul is hardly anything to sniff, but Sony was hoping that Amazing Spider-Man 2 would top out at a solid billion and change at the very least.
