Shadow of the Colossus

Before God of War III was released on the PlayStation 3, a special new two-pack of the first and second games updated in beautiful Blu-ray high definition were released to really get fans excited for the new game and capitalize on the technologies we now have in movies and gaming.

Now it looks like another popular game developer has the same thoughts going on. According to The Sixth Axis (via G4), rumors have been circulating that Team Ico was possibly planning to release two of their immensely-popular titles, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, in a new two-game bundle, and that the duo would be updated in the highest of high definition Blu-ray for the PS3.

E3

It has been a few days now since the E3 video game and electronics convention just came and went, leaving many exciting previews and announcements in its wake, but we here at Geeks of Doom wanted to put together a basic wrap-up for those of you who missed it all and do not yet know of all of the treasures that came of it. The big dogs in Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all had exciting conventions, with Sony and Microsoft making some magnificent announcements. Included in this mass of geek-tastic announcements: A look at Microsoft’s motion-capture attempt with Project Natal, Sony’s motion-capture prototype, and games like Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Halo: ODST, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, God of War III, and others.

In celebration of the convention and all of the great things that came out of it, we’ve decided to put together this little recap of the biggest and brightest things that we saw. We will do our very best to offer information on the products, as well as the mind-blowing videos that were shown! To start, we’ll go over the three main outlets and what they presented to us. After that, we’ll take a look at all of the games and videos that were also presented by the various publishers.

Click on over for some great videos of the future of gaming via motion sensors, as well as a collection of wonderful trailers and videos to watch!

‘Shadow Of The Colossus’ To Touch The Silver Screen

Shadow of the Colossus

Many video game fans will be happy to learn: the independent and fantastical 2005 Sony Computer Entertainment game Shadow of the Colossus is finally being developed as a feature length motion picture. The game was originally developed and distributed in Japan by Sony Computer Entertainment’s International Production Studio 1 before going world wide. Naturally, Sony is developing their own game into a movie instead of letting another studio take it. This isn’t the first time the game has been seen on the big screen: it was shown multiple times as the game that Adam Sandler’s character was obsesses with in the movie Reign Over Me.

Even better, screenwriter Justin Marks has been tapped to pen the script. Marks wrote the script for the recent Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, and is currently working on the scripts for comic adaptation Hack/Slash and the new take on Jules Verne’s classic, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which is being directed by McG.

This project intrigues the hell out of me in a very similar way to the movie being made based on BioShock. In both games, there’s massive challenges to overcome. With BioShock, your main character isn’t seen and doesn’t speak while most of your supporting characters are just voices; while in Shadow of the Colossus, your main character speaks minimally with pretty much only one speaking support role. These are big issues that have to be figured out with extreme caution. If any of them are mishandled even slightly, fans of the games will likely riot. Then again, expectations of movies based on games isn’t exactly at a high level these days.

Click over for more and the game’s trailer for your enjoyment.
