A new director has been hired to take on Shadow of the Colossus, the movie adaptation of the hit video game of the same name. The movie has been in development since 2009, but hasn’t found a way to make it into production yet.
Andrés Muschietti, who made his directorial debut with the 2013 horror flick Mama (which was based on his own short film), is the next director who will attempt to adapt the game for Sony Pictures.
The last director that was attached to the project was Josh Trank (Chronicle) back in 2012, but he moved on to the Fantastic Four reboot and has one of the Star Wars spinoff movies lined up next.
In January of 2013, Hanna writer Seth Lochhead was hired to work on the latest draft of the Shadow of the Colossus screenplay. Justin Marks was the original writer to work on the script.
Andrés’ sister Barbara Muschietti has also joined the movie as a producer along with Kevin Misher through Misher Films.
