The Uniblogger came upon this fan video of a would-be animated series based on the BBC’s television show Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson.

The video uses sound clips from Sherlock, along with music from Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and it’s pretty awesome, and damn it’d be cool to see more.

It seems that as soon as filming hits the ground for Doctor Who that the gossip floodgates open for the series. I’ve heard some doozies in my time, but this one (if real) would actually be quite interesting. Express.co.uk and Radio Times are reporting of rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch from Sherlock (and the forthcoming Star Trek 2 and The Hobbit) could have landed the role as The Master for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.

Because Cumberbatch is celebrated for his Holmes role in “that other” Steven Moffat series, his name has popped up in the past as potentially appearing on Doctor Who.

Fans of the hit BBC series Sherlock will be elated to hear that the show will indeed be returning for a third season.

The show, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, War Horse) as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman (What’s Your Number?, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy), is a modern take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle character.

More a fan of the newest film version of Sherlock Holmes than any other recent adaptation of the character? Like the modern feel he had been given thanks to director Guy Ritchie?

Well, it’s time to bring him to the small screen. Deadline is reporting that CBS has nabbed up the rights to Sherlock Holmes, which will be a modern day take on the “cases of the pipe-smoking private eye.”
