Chewbacca, Star Wars: Force For Change

Star Wars films really haven’t been the same since they started opening in December. But this year is different. Fans will be treated to the franchise’s second spinoff, Solo: A Star Wars Story. But before the film opens on Memorial Day weekend, fans will be celebrating May the 4th. You know, May the Force be with you. It’s a Jedi play on words.

So as we get closer to Solo‘s release, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced their latest charity campaign. Starting today, you can give out your best Chewbacca roar on social media. And if you use the #RoarForChange hashtag, Star Wars: Force for Change will donate $1, up to $1 million. More info and the video can be found below.

Solo: A Star Wars Story #2

If there’s one thing Lando Calrissian is known for, besides his smooth talk, it’s his capes. And we can expect to see a lot of them in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Now Disney and Lucasfilm have released a brand new featurette that not only gives us a look at all the swag capes, but also the finer details of the Millennium Falcon.

Not only that but there is an exciting new video that sees Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard narrating the story of Star Wars: A New Hope in the style of Arrested Development.

Solo A Star Wars Story

Later this Summer, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the latest Star Wars film to hit theaters. Unlike the core saga, Solo is a spinoff that will focus on the titular character’s origins. Han Solo, made famous by Harrison Ford, will now be played by much younger Alden Ehrenreich. Joining him will be Donald Glover, who plays a younger version of the smooth Lando Calrissian. While we have seen a couple of trailers and TV spots for the new film, the latest featurette for Solo details what the spinoff will be about and this is a different universe than we’re used to. Check out the featurette “Becoming Solo” here below.

Solo: A Star Wars Story #2

Geeks of Doom was recently invited to join fellow journalists to attend a special preview event of Denny’s Solo: A Star Wars Story themed menu. While the food that was sampled was pretty good, it’s what was shown at the event that caught our eye.

During the preview, the diner franchise gave us a look at the new commercial for their new menu. And while you may not see any spoilers, just know that Denny’s worked with Lucasfilm and Skywalker Sound to make their ad as cinematic as possible. Check out the commercial below.

Solo A Star Wars Story

Solo: A Star Wars Story has been dogged by rumors of a troubled production since Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film’s original directors, were axed from the film due to creative differences. Then Ron Howard came in to finish the remainder of the production. Interviews with the cast and crew tried to ease some of the concerns fans about upcoming Star Wars spin-off. And the trailer has garnered mixed reactions, at best.

Now there is a new report from the inside that is bringing back some very bad memories. An actor close to the production of Solo says there was plenty of drama with the directors, confirms that title star Alden Ehrenreich needed an acting coach, and how the reshoots may have helped the production but not the final cut of the film. More on the story below.

Solo: A Star Wars Story Cast Photo

When Lucasfilm fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller from Solo: A Star Wars Story, it came at a very bad time. The Star Wars spin-off was just about to be completed before the directors were given the axe due to creative reasons. Ron Howard would then step in as their replacement. But that even came with its own complications. While the “creative differences” excuse has been thrown around in situations like these, it appears there is some truth to it.

More on what lead up to Lord and Miller’s firing, how Howard did not want the gig at first, and what George Lucas did to help Howard. Check it all out here below.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Han Solo and Chewie

If Lucasfilm was going to have a spinoff like Solo: A Star Wars Story, it’s probably best that they gave Alden Ehrenreich all the tools needed to help him become Han Solo. And just like they helped Donald Glover to become Lando Calrissian by bringing in Billy Dee Williams, the original actor who first played the character, original Han Solo Harrison Ford stepped in to give some helpful advice to Ehrenreich, and all of the directors of the upcoming spinoff.

More on the story below.
