Bill Hader

Steven Spielberg and Roald Dahl. Combined these men have created some of the greatest children’s stories ever. From E.T. and Indiana Jones to Matilda and Willy Wonka, these men of film and literature have changed lives for generations of kids. So imagine how mind blowing it was when it was announced that Spielberg was helming one of Dahl’s classics, 1982’s The BFG. Melissa Mathison is penning the screenplay. Transformers: Age of Extinction

Disney has Marvel and Star Wars, Warner Bros has DC and LEGO, and Sony has Ghostbusters and possibly Spider-Man. E.T. (1982)

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg loves to keep busy; he’s currently shooting Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks before he moves on to the Roald Dahl adaptation The BFG. Terrified at the possibility of having free time on his hands, today the man who brought us Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and much more has lined up another feature he intends to direct in the near future, an adaptation of Ernest Cline‘s 2011 sci-fi adventure novel Ready Player One for Warner Bros.

Spielberg is the first director to officially sign on to this long-developing project after previously attracting attention from the likes of Robert Zemeckis and Christopher Nolan.

Steven Spielberg hopes to direct the planned Indiana Jones reboot, which could see Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt star as the titular action-adventurer, according to Deadline.

Back in January, news broke that Disney was planning to reboot the franchise and wanted the Guardians Of The Galaxy star to take up the mantle of Indiana Jones, the adventuring archaeologist made famous by Harrison Ford, who played the character on the big-screen in four films starting with 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
