Venom

If you told me four years ago that a movie like The Avengers would be made, I would have laughed in your face. To create a film based on a team like that would require a lot of time and would need major financing. So instead of just making a straight-up film based on The Avengers, Marvel went forward with focusing on the individuals who make up The Avengers, eventually leading up to the team-up.

Warner tried to go with just with a straight-up film based on the Justice League, but with problems with financing and the writer’s strike, the film was put on hold for a couple of years. Seeing the successful formula that Marvel has created, WB might want to replicate that with Batman entering a reboot phase after The Dark Knight Rises.

Doom Digest

Every day here at Doom HQ we receive tons of tips from our readers about really cool stuff from the world of geek, as well as promotional materials for new films, comic books, collectibles, and much more. While we do our best to bring you as much of it as possible, we don’t always have enough geek manpower available to cover it all on a daily basis. But we hate the idea of all of this really cool stuff wasting away in our inbox. How could we NOT cover it? Hence why we’ve resurrected our long-defunct column Bits Of Doom, now rebranded and revamped as Doom Digest, a collection of easily digestible bits of news, videos, photos, and other goodies.

Today: Uniforms from Star Trek 2, the Star Trek TV Captains together for the first time, international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man and its stars at the MTV Movie Awards, Johnny Depp rocking out with The Black Keys, and Wonder Woman as Joan Jett, plus Bits Of Doom.

Amazing Spider-Man

A week or so ago we got a little tease of the 4-minute super trailer for Sony and Columbia’s The Amazing Spider-Man that would air during the premiere of America’s Got Talent. Well, America’s Got Talent has premiered and, as promised, the massive preview was shown.

There’s both good and bad that comes with a preview like this. The good is, of course, that you get to see a whole lot of goodies from the movie that you haven’t seen yet. The bad, on the other hand, is that you’re probably seeing way more than you want to see before the movie hits theaters on July 3rd.

If you don’t care about the latter and want to lay your eyes on this 4-minute Amazing Spider-Man preview immediately, don’t let us hold you back any longer!

The Amazing Spider-Man

Before we saw The Avengers, a trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man appeared, and it was an amazing trailer and probably the most convincing reason as to why you should watch the movie in 3D. Now Sony Pictures has released a teaser for their 4-minute preview that will debut on Monday, May 14th, with the season premiere of America’s Got Talent.

The teaser doesn’t offer any new footage, but I suspect there will be a few things to look out for during the preview when it airs next week. As a huge fan of Spider-Man, I cannot wait to see this movie and I am certain that this will reestablish the Spider-Man name after the horrendous Spider-Man 3. You can check out the TV spot for the 4-minute preview below.

The Geeks Of Doom Round Up 12: The Amazing Spider-Man and The Beastie Boys

The twelfth episode of The Geeks Of Doom Round Up is here, and Greg takes a look at the underplayed third trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Marc Webb. For our music selection this week, Andy pays tribute to Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys who sadly passed away this week, with "Fight For Your Right To Party".

Later, we take a look at an awesome Metal cover of the music from Doctor Who, by phenomenal guitarist Eric Calderone aka 331Erock. We also take a glance at the new intriguing comic series by Brian Churilla called The Secret History of D. B. Cooper.
