Congratulations to The Last Man On Earth returning for Season 2! Let’s see what Phil Miller (Will Forte) and the gang have been up to, before we get into the review for this week’s doubleheader, 1.9 “The Do-Over” and 1.10 “Pranks For Nothing.”

Two weeks ago, during The Last Man On Earth’s 1.7 “She Drives Me Crazy” and 1.8 “Mooovin’In,” Phil had made some progress with Melissa (January Jones) by just being honest. I don’t know why he cannot get this through his thick skull. This made him even more jealous of Todd (Mel Rodriguez). He just did not understand how someone could move past outer beauty to the inner beauty. The foursome create some sort of government complete with grievance board. And… Phil found a real live cow! Although Phil really wanted burgers and steaks, he was outvoted in favor of fresh milk and dairy products. On top of everything else, Carol (Kristen Schaal) really wants them to live together.

The Last Man On Earth 1.9 “The Do-Over” & 1.10 “Pranks For Nothing” review:

“Aw Phil. Sleep apnea is a part of who I am. Just like dandruff and aggressive night toots are a part of who you are.”

That right there is really what marriage is all about. Carol has that correct. But Phil doesn’t seem to understand. As is obvious in the title, Phil wants a do-over and asks God for one. God seems to listen by delivering…

Spoilers if you have not seen the episode yet! Do not continue reading if that is the case!

Last Man on Earth Will January Kristen Mel

FOX announced today that it has renewed The Last Man On Earth for a second season! The Will Forte, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller vehicle has a unique premise. When a mysterious virus wipes out virtually all the people on Earth, what does the last man do?

Now we do know from watching and reviewing this show faithfully, that Phil Miller (Will Forte) is not in fact the last man on Earth. He has been joined by Carol (Kristen Schaal) who quickly became his wife, “Sweet Melissa” (January Jones), who is his fantasy girl, and Todd (Mel Rodriguez), who is as perfect a guy on the inside as he is not on the outside.

You can read the press release below.

First there was Phil Miller (Will Forte) – alone, suicidal, talking to balls. Then there was Carol (Kristen Schaal) – optimistic, quirky, naggy. Melissa (January Jones) was next – gorgeous, down-to-earth, cool. And in last week’s back-to-back episodes, “Dunk the Skunk” and “Some Friggin’ Fat Guy”, Todd shows up – kind, sincere, and friendly. Melissa and Todd immediately click, which drives Phil nuts. He was this close to getting Melissa in bed and it was his guitar fireworks, designed to impress her, that caused Todd to turn his car around and find them. Just in the nick of time. Melissa and Todd’s date orchestrated by Carol was adorable with mini-golf and a jellybean fight.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Will Forte

The Last Man on Earth, Will Forte, stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and talked (and sang) beards and the new show (mostly beards) with host Jimmy Fallon. Forte had also taped a fairly new Tonight Show game while he was hanging backstage called “Would You Rather,” available only on the web. In this game, he answered a bunch of viewer-submitted choices. And believe me – the choices weren’t easy.

Watch all the awesome videos here below.

If you are not up to date with The Last Man on Earth, do not venture any further. Spoilers!

Phil (Will Forte) and Carol (Kristen Schaal) had just gotten married and were in the “honeymoon” phase. No, really. She started showing that she can have weird fun too (we kinda knew she was capable). They were getting along smashingly, and then Phil plowed the car into a moving limo driven by Melissa (January Jones). She thinks the couple is spacey and weird, even for the-world-has-ended standards, but starts to like their quirks towards the end of the “Sweet Melissa” episode. These two do grow on you.
