| Wait, What? ‘Galaxy Quest’ Was Initially R-Rated
Speaking with Lindsey Collins—producer of the massive Disney blockbuster that hit theaters this weekend, John Carter—recently, Collider’s Steve Weintraub was informed of some long-lost buried treasure of sorts. Apparently Galaxy Quest, the fantastic 1999 sci-fi comedy starring Tim Allen, Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Rockwell, Tony Shalhoub, and Daryl Mitchell (as well as a slew of other familiar faces) as the stars of an old sci-fi TV series (a la Star Trek) who inadvertently find themselves beamed out to space to help very real aliens put an end to the ongoing threats of an evil being named Sarris and his crew, was initially an R-rated comedy before being cut down to the PG version fans know and love.

It’s not always easy being a collector. If you are one of the many out there who, like me, find something they are passionate about and pursue it to the fullest, a lot of time, effort, and money can be spent doing something that others find trivial. For those of us bitten by this bug, it’s not about simply possessing a thing. Anyone can possess a thing, but when you collect something, its more about what that item means to you as a whole. On the surface, I buy the Blu-Rays and DVDs I buy because I am a fan of the film first, and want to enjoy it again in my home.

I am a sucker for animation. From Saturday morning cartoons to epic feature films, I have always been drawn to the medium. Disney movies were staples in my household, and we owned a ton of them. In fact, my current DVD/Blu-Ray collection probably has its roots in how I felt when bringing home a new Disney movie on video. Not only did the package contain the film that I loved, but the glossy, white-rimmed boxes were different from all the other VHS cassettes we had. They were a sight to behold, and though the format has changed over the years, Disney has never disappointed in their home video releases. Always at the forefront of trends, Disney/Pixar’s release of Toy Story 2‘s 3D Combo Pack is a beautiful one.

It feels like only yesterday that Toy Story first came out and changed the world of movies as we know them. A fully-animated feature film? Absolutely unheard of! And it almost never happened, with numerous issues putting to the test the young Pixar Animation team trying to make it. But it did happen, eventually, and computer animated movies have become a staple of modern day cinema. The movie, for those who have somehow never seen it, follows a young boy’s collection of toys led by the once-favorite, a cowboy named Woody (Tom Hanks), who’s trying to come to terms with the boy’s impressive new favorite toy, the highly sought after Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) action figure.

| Disney Hopes To Re-Team ‘Toy Story’ Stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen For Magic Kingdom Movie
Deadline is reporting that The Walt Disney Company isn’t done with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen quite yet. The company is reportedly seeking to re-team the two actors, who voiced Woody and Buzz Lightyear in all three Toy Story movies, in a live-action project called Jungle Cruise. The movie will be based on the theme park ride of the same name found at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The ride sees park-goers jumping on a riverboat and navigating many rivers as animatronic animals pass by. The script is being written by Roger S.H. Schulman, who was a writer on Shrek and has penned many of Disney’s sequels like Mulan II, The Jungle Book 2, and Bambi II.
