Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The first two posters for next year’s historical horror-adventure Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter have debuted and you can check them out here below.

Based on the novel by Pride & Prejudice & Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Kinberg) first published last year, the Tim Burton-produced film takes a revisionist look at the legacy of the famous 16th U.S. President (Benjamin Walker) as he grows up to embark on a mission to kill as many bloodsucking creatures of the night as he can after he discovers that his mother was killed by one. As Lincoln is becoming a feared vampire slayer he also rises in prominence as a politician and future president, and later finds that the defining moments of his life and political career are all tied to the rising vampire threat in the still-young United States.

Still from The Darkest Hour

Aliens appear to be the new cinematic flavor of the week.

Be it invasion pictures like Battle: LA or simply films based in a world where aliens exist like District 9, extraterrestrials are a hot commodity in the film world as of this moment. And now it’s Timur Bekmambetov‘s turn. The producer behind the upcoming alien invasion pic The Darkest Hour has just seen a new motion poster for the film released, and I must say, even as a motion poster, it’s kind of bland.

Check it out here below.

The New York Times has our very first official look at just how accurate director Timur Bekmambetov is aiming for in his adaptation of the alternate history action/horror, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

In the image, which can be seen above (click to go a little larger; no high-quality version has been released yet), you’ll see star Benjamin Walker (X-Men: First Class) in full Abraham Lincoln costume making a speech. Walker, who’s not even 30 years of age yet, appears to make a decent Lincoln (from a distance), indicating some strong makeup work on the film.

Back in November we were informed that The Weinstein Company had acquired the rights to a movie called Apollo 18, which would be produced by Timur Bekmambetov and directed by Trevor Cawood.

The movie is of the “found footage” variety, taking the canceled NASA mission to the moon and proposing that it did in fact happen but went horribly, horribly wrong. The footage that has been found from the mission show just wrong it went and why they tried to cover it all up at first.

You can see the first trailer and read a synopsis for Apollo 18 by clicking on over now.

We’ve heard a great deal about the movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith‘s alternate history novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but have been waiting to find out who exactly would be playing Honest Abe.

According to reports, the list had come down to five names: Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, James D’Arcy, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Benjamin Walker. Now comes word that a choice has been made, and Walker is the man for the job.

Walker was originally set to play Beast in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, but stepped away from the role to continue portraying another president in the Broadway production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
