As I write this post, I find myself quite envious of my TARDISblend co-host, Tom Cheredar, who was in attendance for the Doctor Who panel at San DIego Comic-Con this year.
In the famous Hall H, the panel began with grand fanfare, concluding with the Doctor Who theme blasting through the speakers as Matt Smith (the first ever Doctor to be nominated for a BAFTA Award) joined the stage — greeted with an almighty roar from the crowd… a beginning that gives a clear indication of how much bigger the 48-year old-series has become in the United States. While David Tennant was a highly loved Doctor by U.S. fans, as a long-term fan I cannot recall a level of fandom appreciation for a current Doctor since the days of Tom Baker. It’s a clear indication that the series is currently in good hands, and that Smith is delivering not just to the expectations of showrunner Steven Moffat, but to fans on an international level as well. Unfortunately Moffat was unavailable for the panel, but Smith was joined by his co-host Karen Gillan (who plays Amy Pond), producers Piers Wenger and Beth Willis, and writer Toby Whithouse. First off, let’s get to some of the juicy tidbits about the upcoming episodes of Series 6 that was discussed by the panel…

| ‘The Departed’ Star Ray Winstone Set To Play Final Dwarf In ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’
Just yesterday we found ourselves wondering if the new Universal Pictures take on the Snow White fairy tale, titled Snow White and the Huntsman, could cast known actors in all seven dwarf roles. The reports yesterday were that Ian McShane (Deadwood, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) had been cast as the lead dwarf, Caesar, and that Oscar nominee Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Enemy at the Gates), Eddie Izzard (Shadow of the Vampire, Cars 2), Toby Jones (Harry Potter, Captain America: The First Avenger), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, Snatch), and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, V for Vendetta) were all in talks for other dwarf roles. This left one more, which has now been filled.

| Bob Hoskins, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard & Toby Jones Cast As Dwarfs In ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ |
 |

When looking at the multiple Snow White projects in the works, one might assume that not all of the seven dwarf roles would be filled with a known actor. One or two, maybe, but all seven? Pretty doubtful. But one project looks to be trying to prove that assumption wrong with the announcement of six possible well–known and respected actors taking on dwarf characters. This particular Snow White project seems to be the biggest of them all (thus far, anyway), and is called Snow White and the Huntsman. The movie already has its stars locked up with The Twilight Saga‘s Kristen Stewart set for the lead, a princess who escapes her evil queen of a stepmother (played by Charlize Theron) with a huntsman who was sent to kill her but ends up joining her and seven dwarven warriors, and training her how to fight instead. The huntsman is will be played by Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. Which brings us back to the seven dwarfs, who sound like they’ll pass up on being lovable little workers and instead be ready for battle.

| First Teaser Trailer For Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Adventures Of Tintin’
We’ve heard a lot about the planned trilogy of performance capture Tintin movies being shared between director/producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson over the past year or so, and now we finally have a teaser trailer for the first of those three movies, The Adventures of Tintin. With Jackson now directing the two-part adaptation of The Hobbit, it doesn’t look like he’ll be doing anything more than producing on the Tintin movies, leaving room for someone else to step in and take the job. But for now, the Spielberg-directed first installment looks like a lot of fun. You can check out the teaser trailer for The Adventures of Tintin by continuing below now!
