| ‘The Illusionist’ Director Neil Burger Replaces David O. Russell On ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’
A new director has been chosen to bring the hit Naughty Dog video game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, to life on the big screen. Sony Pictures has entered into negotiations with Neil Burger to both write and direct the adaptation, which follows explorer Nathan Drake as he follows the clues left by his ancestor, Sir Francis Drake, toward a great (and dangerous) treasure. Burger hasn’t done a ton of movies so far, but he wrote and directed the enjoyable Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti film, The Illusionist, and The Lucky Ones, which starred Tim Robbins and Rachel McAdams. Most recently he directed the Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro thriller, Limitless, but did not pen the script for that movie.

| ‘The Fighter’ Director David O. Russell Dumps ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ Movie
One of the joys of writing about movie news is that you can cover something and the storylines that come it a significant amount of times, and then find out that none of it really mattered, as if it were all just a dream. But in this case, discovering that it was all a dream (or nightmare, in some cases) is something that most fans will welcome with open arms. Deadline is reporting that David O. Russell, the director behind the Oscar-winning boxing drama, The Fighter, has decided to leave the movie adaptation of the hit video game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Russell had been attached to direct the movie for a long while, and as mentioned above, many strange twists came of his time with the project. The most notable of which was when his Fighter star Mark Wahlberg revealed that he was going to play Nathan Drake in the movie, which set fans of the game into a enraged frenzy.

| Rejoice! Mark Wahlberg Might NOT Be Nathan Drake In ‘Uncharted’ Movie
It’s been a wild roller coaster ride since it was announced that a movie based on the popular video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was being made. There’s been ups like knowing a movie was coming and hearing fan-favorite Nathan Fillion wanted the lead role, and there’s been downs like finding out that Mark Wahlberg had seemingly been cast instead and that there would new characters added inexplicably. Fans have been making their voices heard — even to the point of approaching director David O. Russell and pleading their case for Fillion — and now those fans will be happy to discover that certain things regarding the movie might not be quite as set in stone as it was feared. In an interview with Joystiq, Justin Richmond, the director of the brand new installment in the video game series, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, spoke about the rumors that have been circulating about the movie.

| Fan Asks Director David O. Russell To Cast Nathan Fillion In ‘Drake’s Fortune’ |
 |

The fan support of actor Nathan Fillion‘s desire to play Nathan Drake in the announced movie adaptation of popular video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was overwhelming, to say the very least. This support was equally matched by disappointment when it was revealed that director David O. Russell was casting Mark Wahlberg, the star of his latest movie, The Fighter. Clearly this is something that fans are passionate about, as the first person of what’s sure to become many has approached Russell himself about reconsidering his casting choice. The gentleman got close enough to the director at a screening of The Fighter recently to plead his case, though it would appear that said pleas fell on deaf ears. Russell goes along with it cautiously, but as many of us have feared, it seems as if he has absolutely no idea who Nathan Fillion even is…though it is mentioned that his agent has sent him Fillion’s DVD audition. You can see the encounter now by clicking on over to the other side.

| Mark Wahlberg Not Doing ‘The Crow’ But IS Doing ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ |
 |

Well…let me start by wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. None of these stories or our opinions matter without you visiting every day to check us out, and that is something we’re truly thankful for this year and hopefully many, many more to come. Now, allow me to ruin your day, sadly. While talking to MTV recently, Mark Wahlberg confirmed that he will be playing the lead role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming video game adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and that he and director David O. Russell hope to do that come summer. On the brighter side of things, Wahlberg reaffirmed something broke earlier this week by Cinematical, and that’s that he won’t be starring in the remake of The Crow that was reported recently and had everyone up in arms. Unfortunately for fans of Drake’s Fortune, the absolute worst thing you could follow up the Crow news with is word that you’re going to play Nathan Drake. We found out last month that O. Russell would be directing the adaptation, and to be honest, it was a very exciting thing to hear about because the game is perfectly set up to become a movie. The only question was who would play Drake.
