Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

The big news coming out of Sony’s E3 2015 showcase was undoubtedly the long-awaited return of The Last Guardian and the surprise announcement of a Final Fantasy VII remake and Shenmue III. But more expected upcoming games were also covered.

The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog was on hand to show a new gameplay demo for their highly anticipated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The new demo reveals the ability to drive a vehicle in the game, as a wildly destructive high-speed chase unfolds. Whether there will be more driving in the game or just this one crazy chase is not known at the moment.

You can see the new Uncharted 4 gameplay demo below.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

It’s safe to assume that most of the truly great games and game series from the last generation of video game consoles will eventually be polished up and re-released on the newer current generation of consoles. Some already have; plenty more are still to come. One of the best game series of the last generation was The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog’s archeological action-adventure games, Uncharted. Basically they’re the best Indiana Jones games we may ever get to play…while also having absolutely nothing to do with Indiana Jones.

The fourth game in the series, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, is on its way to PS4 next year, and will likely be making an appearance at the upcoming E3 convention. But today Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the previous three games in the series from last generation, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, have all been remastered and will be re-released this fall on PS4 as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. You can read more below and watch the announcement video.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Naughty Dog officially announced Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End at E3 2014 with an announcement trailer, which was then followed by a 15-minute gameplay demo shown at the PlayStation Experience this past December.

A firm release date for the game was never locked in, but at the time of those two events the plan was to release the game at some point in 2015, likely during the video game season in the fall. Now Naughty Dog has announced that Uncharted 4 has been pushed back to early 2016 to give them more time to polish the game.

You can read their full statement below.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

The long-in-development movie adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit video game series Uncharted is moving forward again. After an unsuccessful run with American Hustle director David O. Russell attached to direct—which famously went south quickly with fans after reports of Mark Wahlberg starring in the lead Nathan Drake role and Russell wanting to add Drake’s father and uncle for a family element surfaced online—and also the hiring of The Illusionist director Neil Burger to try his hand at making the movie ultimately not working out, a new director has been brought in.

It’s being reported that Seth Gordon, the director behind comedies like Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, has entered into negotiations for the job.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

It’s been difficult to get a film adaptation of Drake’s Fortune into production, and with Neil Burger taking himself out to direct the project, fans of the video game will have to wait a lot longer before they can see Drake seek a lost treasure. But Sony is hiring two writers who are familiar with the themes of Drake’s Fortune, which may help steer the adaptation into the right direction.

Variety reports that National Treasure scribes Marianne and Cormac Wibberley have been hired to write the script for the film. The recent hiring is a smart move as the two have had plenty of experience writing about riddles, puzzles, and ancient hidden treasures.
