In honor of the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the original ‘Star Wars’ — back when the biggest explosion came from the last TIE fighter and Han actually shot first — we present to you 30 of the film’s most memorable quotations “¦ and no questions asked.
(Let’s just say we’d like to avoid any imperial entanglements.)
“This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi, and will soon see the end of the rebellion.”
“What a piece of junk!”
“Don’t call me a mindless philosopher, you overweight glob of grease.”
“I’m Luke Skywalker, I’m here to rescue you.”
“Watch your mouth kid, or you’ll find yourself floating home.”
“Evacuate in our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances.”
“If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador? — Commander, tear this ship apart until you’ve found those plans. And bring me the passengers, I want them alive!”
“Look, good against remotes is one thing, good against the living, that’s something else.”
“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?”
“What are we going to do? We’ll be sent to the spice mines of Kessel and smashed into who knows what.”
“That’s no moon, it’s a space station.”
“This is some rescue. You came in here and you didn’t have a plan for getting out?”
“He’s the brains, sweetheart!”
“You just watch yourself. We’re wanted men. I have the death sentence on 12 systems.”
“I’ll be careful.”
“You’ll be dead!”
“Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”
“Into the garbage chute, flyboy!”
“This is Red 5, I’m going in.”
“Boring conversation anyway. Luke, we’re gonna have company!”
“The Force is strong with this one.”
“I suggest a new strategy, R2. Let the wookiee win.”
“I’m a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.”
“You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take her away!”
“You’re all clear, kid! Now let’s blow this thing and go home!”
“These blast points — too accurate for sandpeople. Only imperial stormtroopers are so precise.”
“I’ve got a very bad feeling about this.”
“You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon? … It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.”
“When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.”
“Only a master of evil, Darth.”
“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”
“Use the Force, Luke.”
“You don’t need to see his identification … These aren’t the droids you’re looking for … He can go about his business … Move along.”
“Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”
“May the Force be with you.”
Honorable Mention: The final word of the movie “Argh!” from Chewbacca!
Eric: It’s “…just IMPACTED on the surface.” What you said is not only wrong it makes no sense. watch the movie a few more times.
Also, you guys neglected my FAVORITE quote:
Han: “I don’t have time to discuss this with your comittee!”
Leia: “I am NOT a committee!”
Yeah, they are missing the most essential “Luke I am your fatherâ€. They also forgot a couple of my other golden moments, “governor Tarkin, I should have expected you to be holding Vaders leash†another goody is “Cut the chatter red 2!†and last but most defiantly not least “I can hold it!!! NOO!!†by Jek Porkins
#7 “You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon? … It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.†This is TERRIBLE, a parsec is a unit of distance not time ARRGGGGHHHH. Damn Hollywood scriptwriters proud of their techno-babble, too lazy to do any reality checks.
Tarkin lines are golden. I love the evacuate one, but bickering is pointless and charming to the last are also golden. My favorites:
“The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universe”
and
“The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away.”
When I like to point out that I found something I sometimes use 3PO´s over heere (to Jawa Sandcrawler) line.
Actually it does make sense, because the kessel run is done by flying past the Maw Cluster of black holes, so making it in less than 12 parsecs means that Han travelled less than 12 parsecs away from the Maw Cluster in order to shorten his time.
In the official stories written AFTER Return of the Jedi, one of the books told the story of Han and Chewie making the Kessel Run. Kessel was a planet where Spice was mined. The only way to get to Kessel was to traverse a maze of black holes, or to just go around it, which would have taken waay longer than going thru the black hole maze. So, making the “Kessel Run” in less than 12 parsecs is accurate, as Han brillaintly navigated it in record time and shortest distance. If you were a true fanboy, you would have read the books that fill in the stories before, between and after the movies. By the way, Spice is the crystals that come from the web of a spider-like giant creature and deliveres temporary empathic abilities to the user.
I have watched Star Wars a few times. Personally, the original film that was released 30 years ago still beat the crap out of the last few recent Star Wars movies.
I, too, noticed the thing about parsecs. Stupid Hollywood. I guess they just used it because of “secs” being like “seconds.” Most people watching wouldn’t even know the difference…sadly.
It’s like the sorry attempt at parody in the World of Warcraft episode of South Park…sad, really.
Note to the rabid fanboy: When Lucas wrote the the film he had no idea what a “parsec” was, he just though it sounded cool and put it in the movie. Later on, his minions realized the error and wrote books to cover his mistake. It’s the same reason he explained C3PO being built by Darth Vader:
as per the under 12 parsecs comments…
it’s not a race you idiots, the kessel run is an illegal smuggling run, carrying spice, (an intoxicant that is illegal most places in the galaxy), from the mines on kessel, out of the system to free space. the imperials guard it well, and there is this little thing called the Kessel Maul…
doing the RUN, (not race you morons) in under 12 parsecs means superior navigation, as well as an outstanding ship, because it’s setup allowed you to cut corners, get closer to stars, and other gravity wells, without dropping you out of hyperspace, which technically has no distance….
so i guess the point here is who is the bigger moron, the one who makes a fantastic script, filled with a wonderful story, or the moron who tries to bash at it with their so called intelligence, without so much as a basic understanding of the context of the content.
Hey Motorcycle Guy, I’m sorry to have to correct you, but this list is exclusively quotes from the first Star Wars movie—Luke doesn’t find out that Vader is his poppa until Empire Strikes Back.
I liked most of those except, “Boring story anyway…” That always made my skin crawl. Han’s sexiest line was something like “Yeah, I bet you did!” right before he shoots Grido. Luke’s funniest whiny line was “Uncle Owen, this R2 unit has a bad motivator!” That one makes me laugh every time.
Saying that the “Luke I am your father” line was missing from the list is as intelligent as saying that the line “Live Long And Prosper” was left off the list too. Why? BECAUSE NEITHER LINE WAS IN THE ORIGINAL MOVIE STAR WARS!!!
Comment by Named My Daughter After Leia — May 28, 2007 @ 7:48 am
I havent read all comments so I dont know if someone pointed out that the list is only from A New Hope, that is why a lot of the quotes ppl have been mentioning didnt make the list.
I would like to point out to all the people who are saying that “I your father” is in Empire: When I first came upon this, I ignored the intro and went straight to the quote list,so I didn’t see that instead of calling A New Hope by it’s name (or even Episode IV), it is here simply referred to as Star Wars. I believe this is what creates the confusion.
I’m not sure what bugs me more – the fact that people keep asking why the line “No, I am your father,” wasn’t in the movie, or that they keep erroneously saying that the quote was, “Luke, I am your father.” Come on people, if you’re truly Star Wars fans, I wouldn’t even have to explain this.
One of my favorite lines from A New Hope was “Listen to them, they’re dying,” which C-3P0 says when he thinks he failed to stop the trash compactor in time.
hold on a minute, these are all great but where the heck is “I am Your Father”?!?!?!?!?!?! that is like the biggest movie quote of the last 50 years!!!!!!
Sheesh… will one of the page editors please clarify AT THE TOP of the page that this is for A New Hope only– for the idiots who keep posting the “where’s ‘i am your father?'” comments?
That being said… great list!
[ED. NOTE: We had hoped that stating “In honor of the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the original ‘Star Wars’” would be enough considering that by using that statement there can be NO other movie we are talking about besides the very first “Star Wars” movie George Lucas made in 1977 30 years ago, also known as Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. And the fact that NOT ONE quote from the list is from any other movies from the saga should help readers deduce which movie we are speaking of, though, I guess not. But, I understand your frustration, though, it’s kind of amusing. How many “I am your father” comments can we get, lol.
But, thank you for enjoying the list. We appreciate it. ]
I was always confused about Leia. First, she says, “I’m a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.†Later, she says, “Alderaan is peaceful. We have no weapons.” Is she saying she’s on a diplomatic mission to her own home planet? Gee, there’s a tough assignment.
LMAO just kidding! Half the people reading this arnt too bright…most of us worked out that ALL of the quotes are from the first one! Nice list, I would have ordered them slightly differently myself but most of them were there. It must be pretty hard to to pick 30 quotes, most of the lines in this film are VERY memorable! But I think we all knew that “May the force be with you” would be number one! Good list though, well done!
If your going to make a list for only things said only in A New Hope then you should name it that instead of Star Wars since there are of course 6 Star Wars movies.
I didn’t see this quote, but this is one of my favorite ones. It is from Darth Vader in the Return Of The Jedi when Darth Vader arrives at the partially completed Death Star at the beginning of the show, and he says to one of the imperial officers when the officer learns that the empororer is arriving. He tells the officer when the officers tells Darth Vader that he and his men will double the efforts on the construction of the Death Star…
“I hope so commander, for your sake. The emperor is not as forgiving as I am”. =D
Mo3pheus, Darth Vader DID build C3PO, if you remember from episode one, C3PO was built by the then 9-year old Anakin Skywalker, and Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker. Also regarding the quote about the kessel run in 12 parsecs, i am glad that it has been mostly cleared up, but to elaborate, if you have watched A New Hope dvd with commentary, George Lucas clearly states that he knows parsecs are a measure of distance not time, and he knew it back in 1977 too. He states that that quote does make sense because the Millenium Falcon is not physically the fastest ship in the universe, but it is the fastest because it has the most advanced navigation computer to allow it to take the shortest possible distance around objects in hyperspace, therefore the quote is accurate. Also, a note to the editor regarding your note on adam`s post, Empire came out 3 years after A New Hope, not 2 years.
In regards to the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs… I think it should be noted that it is correct. Han flew the Kessel run through an asteroid field that was considered impassable, which significantly shortened the overall length of the flight. Hence the reason to boas
“You’re all clear kid, now lets blow this thing and go home.”
“I’m going in, going in full throttle”
To please the idiots:
“I am your father”
And I believe the the “Kessel Run” involves passing by several black holes. Straight lines are faster than curved ones. This means: if you can take a line “less than 12 parsecs” away from a black hole then you are taking a straight (fast) line and may have something to be proud of.

THE BEST LINE OF THAT MOVIE IS DON’T BE TO COWARDLESS OF THIS TECHNOLOGICAL TERROR YOU’VE CONSTRUCTED .THE POWER TO DESTROY A PLANET IS INSIGNIFICANT NEXT TO THE POWER OF THE FORCE

What about “Luke, I am your father!”
[ED. NOTE: Another poor soul who failed reading comprehension.]
Comment by Popcorn Joe — November 2, 2007 @ 3:35 pm
This was a great list, thanks for taking the time to put it together. The quote I always think of with that movie was Wedge Antilles saying …
Great list, really tough to pick out only 30 quotes; but i have gone with more Tarkin lines, my fav of which is:
“The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universeâ€
On the Kessel run debate, regardless of whether Lucas knew about the Black holes or not, a parsec (normally unit of distance) can be used as a measure of time in Relativity – time and distance become interchangeable (in theory you can measure your age in meters, say). So its fully conceivable that the Han was measuring time in parsecs…. (not that I’m saying that’s what Lucas meant by the line, just that it is possible…)
Darth Vader: “No. *I* am your father.” is the quote anyway… he never says luke. just thought i would point that out. and i like the walking carpet one the best :)
Excellent compilation! It brought a lot of joy and great memories back to the front of my brain! Note to the Editor– after a bit, I, too, enjoyed counting the misquotes of that famous line from Empire!
Well done!
Comment by Meatsack1031 — January 9, 2008 @ 3:28 pm
For me: 1# “The Jedi turned against me! Don’t you turn against me!” – Ani
2# “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” – Han
One of the things I often find disappointing with quote lists is that the quotes are often boring outside of the context of the movie. Too often the memorable part is not the quote but the scene in its entirety. Quotes like “that’s no moon…” have no flair in their use of language. It just serves as a bookmark for a very memorable scene. Granted these are just my opinions, so there’s no need for people to get upset(but they probably will anyway).
When Alec Guinness says “Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy,” to describe how vile the place is, well, that is a great use of language. Its not just an auditory marker used to identify a great scene. Thats my two cents.
Anyway, thanks for posting this commemorative list of episode IV.
My daughter is having a Star Wars birthday party tomorrow, and I’m looking for quotes such as these for a “who said it” game. These are great… but not all of them say who said it.. can you help me… really, really soon?
I don’t think this quote is accurate: “Boring conversation anyway. Luke, we’re gonna have company!â€. Wasn’t it something like “I never liked conversation anyway…”?
“With the blast shield down I cant even see, how am I suppose to fight?â€
“I find your lack of faith in the force disturbingâ€
Comment by amroberts — September 7, 2008 @ 4:30 am
I love how the editors of this website started politely telling people about the “luke I am your father” quote, then just got totally arsey by the end. Kudos Editors.
My favourite quote would have to be…
“you came in that thing? you’re braver than I thought”
The whole parsec time vs distance debate was on Family Guy’s Blue Harvest. It made me smile.
By the way, has anyone seen that one episode of Scrub’s where JD’s girlfriend’s godfather is Billy Dee, a.k.a Lando Calrissian.
Billy Dee: Yeah, Julie’s a great girl
Turk: _stunned silence_ AHHHHH (screams) LANDO CALRISSIAN!!! _hugs Billy Dee_
Billy Dee: you can call me Billy Dee.
Turk: Yes Lando Yes.

its better when there not shhoting back/some droid said that i think
Great list, and I loved all the debates that arose on the comment board. But my fav quote from this movie was missing, and no one seems to have mentioned it in the comments either:
“I think it’s time we demonstrate the full power of this Station” – Tarkin (if I remember correctly)
Or when Obi’s using his mind tricks on the storm trooper officer at Mos Eisley:
“You don’t need to see our identification.
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
Let us go about our business.
Move along.” and the storm trooper repeats every line, totally owned ;)
Okay you people are starting to seriously piss me off. I read about half of the comments before I got sick of seeing “I am your father!!” First of all half of you got the quote wrong, it’s “No Luke I am your father.” and second of all, as the editor has said countless times THIS PAGE ONLY HAS QUOTES FROM SAR WARS EPISODE IV “A NEW HOPE” NOT FROM EPISODES I, II, III, V, or VI!!!!!! God you people are so ignorant!!!!!!!

“I am your father” is not from “Star Wars”, it is from “The Empire Strikes Back”… this thread is in regard to the Anniversary of the ORIGINAL “Star Wars”… capice?
Comment by Irish Diablo — December 4, 2008 @ 10:01 am
After reading this, the editor seems to go to great lenths to show that he means the movie, ‘A New Hope’. When referring to Star Wars, to me it encompasses ALL the movies and genre. My bad. I understand you are doing this for the thirtieth anniversary and all, but maybe for some of us older geeks you might include ‘A New Hope’ so it is less confusing. Cheers!

Comment by Frankosuave — August 10, 2009 @ 10:42 pm
The kessel run is 12 parsecs is right, Han Solo took a dangerous route that ran past the Maw black hole cluster cutting the original run by 11.5 parsecs. lol I love star wars.
hahaha the list is fantastic, but i agree with the person earlier that said you need to hear them in context. it’s hard to narrow it down to 30 when the whole movie is filled with them. its profoundly amusing seeing all the posts that refer to the “no luke, i am your father” quote..i mean its not that hard to figure out which movie we are talking about and what the actual quote is…just watch the movie?? i say kudos to the people who made this site haha the E.D Notes are really amusing
favourite quotes from THIS movie would be…..
‘i wonder whats happened to little R2, he’s always getting himself into trouble’ (ironic huh?)
‘what a lovely smell you’ve discovered’
and
‘Look sir, droids’
also to that person who calls george lucas a hack…your a douche. he is one of the most brilliant minded people in the world
cheers
I personally think that Obi-Wan has some of the best (and most ridiculous) lines like: “Only a master of evil Darth” however my favourite has got to be this:
“The sandpeople are easily startled but they’ll soon be back, and in greater numbers”
the fact that the parsec is a unit of distance not time is actually correct because the kessel run is made through a bunch of uncharted black holes. there are an unlimited number of paths to take to get from start to finish and han made it in a record distance. but when bragging about how ‘fast’ his ship is, Han shouldn’t have used that personal best to describe it
A parsec is an astronomical unit of measurement that is equivalent to 3.26 light years distance, or the distance photons will travel in vacuum over the period of 3.26 years. Light travels at an approximate speed of 186,000 miles per second (300,000 kilometers per second), so a parsec represents a distance of just over 19 trillion miles (~31 trillion kilometers).
But going near a black hole will only lengthen both your run time and distance. If you want to travel between 2 points travelling through flat space is the shortest distance. Going near a black hole might slow your local time down but to external observers your trip will take longer.
hey about the kessel run debate, naturally the people that support lucas would be right, with the whole shortened because he flew so close to a black hole theory.
that was explained in the books where luke first starts his new academy.
UNFORTUNATELY, if you do some research, you’ll find that originally lucas ment for this line to be an obvious lie. sorry guys i was dissapointed myself since i liked through the black hole defense in my friend’s faces, oh well
and i mean anyone that respects the star was universe should know that this movie was released with the title star wars and nothing else, it was revised to star wars a new hope around the time they came out with empire strikes back.
It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs! Ben reacts to Solo’s stupid attempt to impress them with obvious misinformation.
So it implies that the puzzling speech of Han Solo is “misinformation” and not truth, and it has nothing to do with the nature of the Kessel Run in any respect. Han means nothing other than impressing Obi-Wan and Luke with pure boasting. Indeed, even in the final version of the script, the parenthesis attached to Han’s line states that he is “obviously lying.”
Just searching the web looking for a good Star Wars quote for my ten yr olds year book. When I found this site. Its an hour later and my face hurts from all the laughing. Thanks for the site and thanks for all the posts. I personally love the all the Han Solo quotes and couldn’t pick a favorite. I do strongly agree with another poster who stated that the world would be a better place if we spend more time doing things like this. Now, “go about your business … Move along!â€
What about one of the FUNNIEST parts of the movie? When they are attacking the death star and the Fat Guy in the Y-wing is in the channel with his little targeting gadget over his eyes? It goes something like:
Fat guy: I’m going in.
pilot: Watch out uve got 3 bad guys on your tail
Fat guy: stay on target…
Pilot: They’ve got us locked!
Fat guy: stay on target…
Pilot:AHHHHH!
(one y-wing gets blown up)
Fat guy: Stay on target!
(Other wingman gets blown up)
(Vader targets lead y-wing)
Fat guy: STAY ON TARGET!!!
(Fat Guy in Y-wing gets blown to bits)
Idk I thought it was really funny, in a messed up way…
I could always get my brother to laugh when he was trying to get me to answer something and I’d just repeat: STAY ON TARGET. lol
BTW i think this is in the first one buuuuuut it may be the other time they attack the DEATH STAR.
Every time an ignorant commenter demands to know why “I am your father” was not included in this list – which is clearly designated as containing ONLY quotes from the original Star Wars film – Darth Vader stomps a puppy.
Yes, it’s one of the most memorable Star Wars quotes. No, it’s not one of the most memorable “Star Wars” quotes because IT WAS NEVER SAID IN THAT FILM.
Han Solo: “Uh, everything’s under control; situation: normal.”
Stormtrooper on intercom: “What happened?”
Han: “Uhh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh, everything’s perfectly all right now, we’re fine, we’re all fine here, now, thank you… How are you?” *wince*
—-
Princess Leia: “Somebody’s gotta save our skins!”
—-
Stormtrooper: “Look, sir, droids!”
—-
Luke whining to Uncle Owen: “But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!”
—-
Han: “What a wonderful SMELL you’ve discovered!”
—-
Luke: “There’s something alive in here…!”
A lot of these lines are funny just because of the way the actors delivered them. Those people are geniuses.
Sounds a lot like Dune, actually…Think about it. In Dune, a spice is mined from giant worms, and the spice gives temporary empathic abilities to the user. TMYK…
And by “older geeks” you mean younger, right? Because I saw Star Wars in the theater in ’77 and it will always be Star Wars to me. Calling it “A New Hope” didn’t become popular until much later.
Comment by Watchmaker2 — September 7, 2011 @ 8:29 am
It’s been explain a million times before. Â The Kessel run involves a smuggler route near a black hole. Â The shorter the distance, the faster the ship must be as the route is closer to the black hole and more dangerous.
>Han Solo: “Uh, everything’s under control; situation: normal.”Stormtrooper on intercom: “What happened?”Han: “Uhh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh, everything’s perfectly all right now, we’re fine, we’re all fine here, now, thank you… How are you?” *wince*<
Â
When I saw first saw Star Wars in the theaters, this part got the most and biggest laughs from all of us! ^_^ What a wonderful film.
“Your father’s lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as random or as clumsy as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.”
Obi Wan to Luke
I do not understand how Admiral Ackbar saying “It’s a trap” isn’t on this list. Good list, but because of the depth and pure awesomeness that is Episodes 3 through 6 obviously some things aren’t going to make it onto the list.
BTW Episodes 1 and 2 were not to par with the Star Wars series, but Episode 3 was pretty awesome.

Vader: Search your feelings, you know it to be true!
Luke: Noooooooooooooo!

Actually parsecs can be used to measure distance or time. I read that somewhere, wish I had a source to back it up with.
“But I was gonna go to Anchorhead and pick up some power convertors!!”
Comment by Bryan St. Amour — May 24, 2007 @ 5:07 pm
Nevermind, wikipedia owned me: Parsecs are indeed units of measurement. My mistake.
Comment by Bryan St. Amour — May 24, 2007 @ 5:08 pm

By the way, Spice is the crystals that come from the web of a spider-like giant creature and deliveres temporary empathic abilities to the user.

as per the under 12 parsecs comments…
it’s not a race you idiots, the kessel run is an illegal smuggling run, carrying spice, (an intoxicant that is illegal most places in the galaxy), from the mines on kessel, out of the system to free space. the imperials guard it well, and there is this little thing called the Kessel Maul…
doing the RUN, (not race you morons) in under 12 parsecs means superior navigation, as well as an outstanding ship, because it’s setup allowed you to cut corners, get closer to stars, and other gravity wells, without dropping you out of hyperspace, which technically has no distance….
so i guess the point here is who is the bigger moron, the one who makes a fantastic script, filled with a wonderful story, or the moron who tries to bash at it with their so called intelligence, without so much as a basic understanding of the context of the content.

Comment by geewits — May 28, 2007 @ 4:18 am

Comment by Misato — August 16, 2007 @ 10:58 pm
Comment by Torretto — August 23, 2007 @ 8:02 pm
In regards to the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs… I think it should be noted that it is correct. Han flew the Kessel run through an asteroid field that was considered impassable, which significantly shortened the overall length of the flight. Hence the reason to boas
Comment by Paul — September 10, 2007 @ 5:04 pm
“You’re all clear kid, now lets blow this thing and go home.”
“I’m going in, going in full throttle”
To please the idiots:
“I am your father”
And I believe the the “Kessel Run” involves passing by several black holes. Straight lines are faster than curved ones. This means: if you can take a line “less than 12 parsecs” away from a black hole then you are taking a straight (fast) line and may have something to be proud of.

Comment by The force — November 6, 2008 @ 10:23 pm
Cheers!

The kessel run is 12 parsecs is right, Han Solo took a dangerous route that ran past the Maw black hole cluster cutting the original run by 11.5 parsecs. lol I love star wars.
Comment by Branded — December 2, 2009 @ 11:52 pm
hahaha the list is fantastic, but i agree with the person earlier that said you need to hear them in context. it’s hard to narrow it down to 30 when the whole movie is filled with them. its profoundly amusing seeing all the posts that refer to the “no luke, i am your father” quote..i mean its not that hard to figure out which movie we are talking about and what the actual quote is…just watch the movie?? i say kudos to the people who made this site haha the E.D Notes are really amusing
favourite quotes from THIS movie would be…..

I personally think that Obi-Wan has some of the best (and most ridiculous) lines like: “Only a master of evil Darth” however my favourite has got to be this:
“The sandpeople are easily startled but they’ll soon be back, and in greater numbers”
Never fails to amuse me :)

Comment by Juan Luis — March 17, 2010 @ 12:03 am
the fact that the parsec is a unit of distance not time is actually correct because the kessel run is made through a bunch of uncharted black holes. there are an unlimited number of paths to take to get from start to finish and han made it in a record distance. but when bragging about how ‘fast’ his ship is, Han shouldn’t have used that personal best to describe it

Comment by Tia — May 13, 2010 @ 9:28 pm
A parsec is an astronomical unit of measurement that is equivalent to 3.26 light years distance, or the distance photons will travel in vacuum over the period of 3.26 years. Light travels at an approximate speed of 186,000 miles per second (300,000 kilometers per second), so a parsec represents a distance of just over 19 trillion miles (~31 trillion kilometers).
Comment by .... — May 23, 2010 @ 10:26 am
But going near a black hole will only lengthen both your run time and distance. If you want to travel between 2 points travelling through flat space is the shortest distance. Going near a black hole might slow your local time down but to external observers your trip will take longer.

Obiwan: ‘Who is more foolish? the fool, or the fool that follows him?’
Comment by hijinx — July 11, 2010 @ 9:30 pm
hey about the kessel run debate, naturally the people that support lucas would be right, with the whole shortened because he flew so close to a black hole theory.
that was explained in the books where luke first starts his new academy.
UNFORTUNATELY, if you do some research, you’ll find that originally lucas ment for this line to be an obvious lie. sorry guys i was dissapointed myself since i liked through the black hole defense in my friend’s faces, oh well
and i mean anyone that respects the star was universe should know that this movie was released with the title star wars and nothing else, it was revised to star wars a new hope around the time they came out with empire strikes back.
great list, funny comments.
Comment by austin — July 19, 2010 @ 12:51 pm
It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs! Ben reacts to Solo’s stupid attempt to impress them with obvious misinformation.
So it implies that the puzzling speech of Han Solo is “misinformation” and not truth, and it has nothing to do with the nature of the Kessel Run in any respect. Han means nothing other than impressing Obi-Wan and Luke with pure boasting. Indeed, even in the final version of the script, the parenthesis attached to Han’s line states that he is “obviously lying.”

Thanks for the site and thanks for all the posts. I personally love the all the Han Solo quotes and couldn’t pick a favorite.

Actually, the line goes “No, I am your father”
There is no “Luke” in that sentence. The common misconception is that there is.
“Luke, I am your father” was conceived probably to indicate to others where that line came from.

Yes, it’s one of the most memorable Star Wars quotes. No, it’s not one of the most memorable “Star Wars” quotes because IT WAS NEVER SAID IN THAT FILM.

A lot of these lines are funny just because of the way the actors delivered them. Those people are geniuses.
