The much-anticipated first trailer for Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes has finally been released to the masses courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
We all knew this was probably going to be a fun movie, but I have to admit, it looks even better than I expected. It has a great feel to it and they definitely nailed the 1800s action I was hoping for. It also shows off some of the humor we can expect to see. Along with the look of a great new Sherlock Holmes adventure, you definitely can sense the touch of Guy Ritchie — it absolutely looks like one of his worlds.
The movie is a new, fast-paced re-envisioning of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle character with a lot more action fueling the story than any Sherlock fan has ever been used to. This is the first movie in what’s hoping to become a new successful franchise; telling the origins of Sherlock Holmes, his work, and his trusty right-hand man, Watson.

Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr. as the crafty detective, with Jude Law taking on the role of Watson. Rounding out the cast is Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler and Mark Strong as Lord Blackwood. It will be released on December 25, 2009.
I hate to be the hater but it seems mediocre at best.. Yes to Robert Downey Jr but why did Jude Law have to be cast for this?! Hmmm, then again I think Robert Downey Jr can be the saving grace of this movie. Oh damn and Mark Strong is in this as well! I need to reevaluate!

The trailer is awesome. This looks like it could be the best movie of 2008. Downey and Law seem like a perfect combination for this. I also like that it seems to have a horror theme to it. BTW, that was a real punch if I’ve ever seen one, there’s no CGI in the world that can make a face ripple like that. I can’t believe we have to wait til Christmas to see it.
